What batterys are people using??

its time for me to upgrade my battery as i have the stock acdelco piece of junk still in my 2005 pontiac g6 and i dim at 500 wrms :( i did the big 3 with 0 gauge, and it helped a little but not positive i checked under the hood yesterday to check what battery i have, and one of the wires slipped out off the eyehole connector, and its -40 and im sick so dont plan on fixing that quite yet. but what battery(ies) are people using up front, and or in the back. i still dont know if i need to get a new one up front then one in the back as i plan on getting a hifonics bxi 1208 or 1608 so about 1100watts wrms give or take. what are peoples thoughts and input thanks, oh btw i live in winnipeg if that gives u a better choice for a battery as its always stupid cold :thumbsdow

Easiest thing is go to costco and get a yellow top for the front. They say to not use them to start your car but they work fine.

I have an Interstate Megatron. Replaced my 6 year old Hyundai OEM battery last October. Consumer reports rated the Megatron as one of their top picks. It is expensive, but if it lasts as long as the OEM battery, I'll be happy.

I am using a Batcap 2000 it is small and packs some punch

Costco sells Yellow Top for about $200 Canadian... If they have any in stock.

Lordco sells them normally for around $300. But they are going on Sale in April for around $130. I'm buying 2 new ones and selling the old ones. Just to freshen them and have one in the trunk for the PS2/xbox/pc/etc.

thanks so far guys, uhm im thinking of a yellow top but still unsure if i should just use 1 new bat for the front and everything will be fine, i guess its all trial and error just with car payments and other garbage and being 17 only get so much money actually to myself :( so i wanna get the most without paying alot of money

I know I am still a noob to this but I got one of those Exide Orbital batteries from parts source. I heard they are as good as the Yellow Top but cheaper and have a 3 year warranty vs the Opmita's 1.

for exide you can go to teamshadowspl.com and look at his selection and price, robert is awsome to deal with, also if you want the BEST battey on the planet, contact dbdon on this web page and get him to shoot you some specs and prices...

danyman 03-13-2009 01:50 PM

no its not part source. im still checking it out lol. i think it is Napa autoparts. it was a special order and its not a napa battery lol

kyleorsini 03-13-2009 02:22 PM

Red Top is better than Yellow Top for extreme cold starting, but it will not stay long in good condition if you like to run your system off battery only with engine off. Yellow Top is a bit worse for extreme cold starting, but you can run your system with engine off as much as you like without consequences with exception of draining risk, but the YT by design will not be hurt by it like the RT. Take your pick.
