When I do my searches around the Internet for stuff forsale I usually come across "Crossovers", So now I am wondering what do they do?

they allow you to filter out a certain range of frequencies from a signal at varying degrees of cutoff. ....so you won't have little 3.5" speakers trying to play 30hz notes ...there are multiple different types of crossovers...once you understand essentially what they do, research about the varying types.
they are extremely useful and necassary to build any decent system. |
Alright, Thanks guys for the info and the link I will do smoe more research on it.
With that said, does anyone have one forsale? |

lol, i would never in my life pay for a 50 farad cap. got it for free from a buddy of mine. thanks for your input though. and back on topic...RKnight, generally you will find any decent headunit and amps will have them built in, what are you running right now? you may not need to buy external crossovers. |
My Car is a 99 Acura 1.6 EL
My System so Far is as followed...... 2 10inch Rockford P1 Subs 300W ea. with 150RMS ea. Pioneer 760W AMP 1.2 Farad Cap 2 or 4 Gauage wire (not sure yet) 2 Pioneer front speakers 2 Kenwood Rear speakers Monster RCA and all cables Kenwood KDC-MP728 deck Planning on buyin some tweeters and some rockford speakers. What else do you guys thing I should do or change? |
your head unit has built in adjustable high pass filter for both the front and the rear, and low pass filter for the subwoofer. read the manual for your headunit, it has alot of useful features
you already have a pretty complete system. 3 things i can think of.... 1. get and amp to power your speakers 2. dynamat your car 3. start upgrading what you already have. (keep in mind, you electrical will be fine with what you have, but if your system begins to grow, you may need to upgrade that as well.) |

Yes thats what I want to do next is the amp for speakers and dynamat. What size amp do I need for the speakers? I want to try to buy the same one I already have to keep it alike. Is there any paticular place I should buy this dynamat? or should I just go to future shop etc?. I do want to buy good tweeters, any suggestions? I already have 2 gauge Lighting audio wire, and a fuse holder, but my fuse holder is missing the cover, which im guessing since it usally gets mounted under the hood it should be covered? any suggestions on this? |
