Hey all,

Well I just bought a 150 amp ANL fuse and a fuse holder. I will get new wire for the weekend and run the new 4 gauge because the stuff I have is old.

Will this fix everything properly or should I do more to fix this problem?

1 more thing. How do I crimp connectors to a 4 gauge wire?

Thanks

ok peeps, in my sunfire i had a 4Gauge wire with a 80amp fuse running to the boot of the car, then i had a distributor at 8gauge a peice for me 2ch amp running the subs and the 4ch amp for the speakers. I had a 400w RMS for the speakers and a 720w RMS amp for the subs, i didnt have a prob, considering one amp had 3 30amp fuses and the other one had 2 fuses of 25amps, now i do realize that theoriticaly speaking you dont need more then 40amps at the battery, but when you think about it, you do lol. Put a 80amp fuse and forget about it, also run 4 gauge, i had 8, when i put in the second amp i didnt think twice about puting in 4. Also check your ground, when i first installed it, i tried at the button of the boot, and it was really flakey, cutting in and out, so i tried it on the strut of my car, that worked fine, but later on i moved it back down to the boot but grinded the area to make sure had good metal contact.

I tried crimping the 4 gauge just now with a set of vice-scripts (sp?) and it didn't work too good. It just slid out after 10 minutes of trying to get it nice and tight.

So again. I bought the 150 amp ANL fuse and a fuse holder. I will run the 4 gauge wire this weekend. Is this good enough?

Also is grounding the amp to the seat belt bolt a good idea? It's all sanded down and it's a steel bolt that isn't painted over. Is that good enough or should I get a self tapping screw and use that?

Thanks

I usually do a self tapping screw with some star washers, and I sand the paint away also.

Were are you trying to crimp the wire? Doesent it scew down in fuse holder and dis block?
Anyways that all sounds good and dont forget to upgrade the ground to 4 awg too.
Use solder and you will get the best connection ....

I am gonna have crimp a connector to the end to attach the power cable to the battery and make one to attach the ground to the car.

I would use solder but I never have and don't know how to do it. I am sure I can look into it.

Thanks

You can get the flux core electrical solder @ canadian tire along with a micro torch.
Just heat up the wire and touch the solder to it and it will come naturally.
As for the connecter, you cant solder that on tho.
But you can buy a special tool for that, i just use vice grips also and squeeze the out it!It helps to have strong hands for this one tho.
