WHAT SHOULD I GET??? help

k, I have a 92 318i beemer and I have about 2500 to spend on a system, but I want a 7 inch touchscreen lcd on the head unit. I have no idea of the other stuff I should get, how good of a system do you think i can get with this 2500? Also if I go to a shop to get my setup, will they do the installation for me? Because i'd have no idea of what to do hahah.:dunno:

Here is one of the cheapest touchscreen setups that I've found.

Pioneer AVIC-N2 \RB DVD Players,In-dash Video,Car Navigation Systems

As for a reply to what you can get, we need to know what your going for. SPL or SQL? Do you want tight bass, boomy bass?

*EDIT*
Just double checked. That HU is only 6.5" screen.

boomy bass for sure. K so I wanna invest more in the subs, rather than the speakers. I still want decent speakers, cuz the sound is still important to. The touchscreen is dvd/cd right? cuz that'll be the deck covered then its just the speakers, subs, and amp, is that right?

How much room do you want to take up for your sub box? How many subs do you want to run. For boomy bass, 15" Kickers pound very well. I am running a 15" Digital Designs in a 5 cu foot ported box and it howels.

which do u think would be better, goin with 2 12's or 1 15'. I was thinkin of maybe like pioneer or alpine. What about an amp with this?

$2500 is an excellent budget for a starter system. What type of LCD touchscreen are you looking for, fold-out or double din. Also, are you going for sound quality (SQ) or sound pressure level (SPL)? Primary difference between the two, SQ systems are mainly designed with the listener in mind and doesnt do well if you want to shake the ground. Whereas SPL systems rattle the pavement and make people crank around and stare at you (if youre into the attention grabbing thing).... :)

Personally, I prefer 1 good 15" over two 12". Mind you, I haven't heard a system thats running 2 quality 12's. I think we need more input! Technically you have more surface area with 2 12" woofers so you should be able to achieve a better spl provided they are powered adequately and in the right box.

Yes a shop will install it however make sure you set aside a good $500 or so out of your budget for wiring, accessories and installation. You need to decide what you want to build be it SQ or SPL. If it was my money and I was building an SQ 3 x 10" setup sounds great and for SPL 12" maybe even 15" if I wanted to elminate my trunk space.

fold-out lcd and SPL for sure. just better for rap u know with like the crazy bass. Oh and smoke_31 what type amp should i be lookin at if i were to be power 2 good quality 12' subs and whats the price range do u think i should go for with my budget. Keep in mind i do want to get the lcd monitor for my head unit, so a good bit of money is goin there.

Assuming that you have nothing against kicker, here is one setup to ponder.

1 x Pioneer AVIC-N2 \RB (6.5" lcd receiver) $862.26
2 x Kicker 06S12L7-2 (subs) $566.50
1 x Hifonics BXi 1606D (1600W rms amp) $328.75
---------
$1757.51

Just an idea. If the subs were wired at 1 ohm, the amp would be feeding 1600W rms to the combined subs which combined are rates 1500W rms.

These prices are from onlinecarstereo.com.
If I were you I would talk to the site vendors and see what they recommend. You also would have to make provisions for amp wiring, deck wiring and speakers for mids/highs as well as a sub box.

Everyone tell me how dumb you think I am! (or give input :) )

*EDIT*
You would also have to pay duties and all the crap from onlinecarstereo.com.
