Hello everybody...
I have a Old Skool Sony CD-player.. just recently purchased for one steal of a price.. everything was working mint for about a whole month... until the LCD display basically fadded out and became dim, so now as it stands, the LCD Display is hella dim and barely readable... but on the upside all functions of the cd-player still work.. so my question is what to do? Drive and dont give a crap? |
What model is it ?
|
There is a good chance the the bulb that backlights the display has given up.
On an old deck it will actually be a through-hole bulb, on the newer decks it may be a surface mound LED. Either way it is a cheap repair and can be done yourself if you are good with a soldering iron. If not it should cost no more than $40 or $50 bucks to have a shop change the bulbs for you. Good luck Kevin |
If it is a removable face, check ebay regularly. Get it fixed if it is cheap enough and you like it enough. Get a new old unit.

If it just faded it could also be the inverter for the bulbs - if they are CCFL's. It could also be the contrast control circuit, I had to repair a problem in a sony C90 with the same symptom.
If you get the bulbs out measure them and check digikey.ca they usually run ~$6-15/bulb. |
Well this is the deck Model Number:
Sony CDX-C580... so it is possible to get is fixed for cheap.... hummm..anybody from the GTA can recommend anywhere? oh and thanks yall for your help |
