I'v had my hands on pretty much every amp made before 2000 and my favorite
old school amps are the old Harmon / Kardon CA series and the TC series amps

true high current class A .... super clean and tight

I was impressed with the SQ of a brief appearance of a Canadian Car amp from Blade, the SQ was really sweet, but.., the amp didn't like a heavy load among other things.
I still have my Alpines 3542 & 3543
