What are your thoughts on Power Acoustik?

I've never heard of this brand before, but I've been offered a brand new Power Acoustik P3-12W 12" sub handling 1000W RMS for about $150CAD. I have a JVC CS-GW1200 that handles 350W RMS currently but as I have just purchased it recently, want to know if it's worthwhile to return it and then buy the PA sub.

I have an Audison LRX 1.1k Mono Amplifier.

IMO, junk.

You have an LRX and you want a PA sub. That's not right... :retard:

veeman 07-27-2010 03:58 PM

^^x2...save your money, wait and spend a little more for a quality subwoofer.

X3, that sub has no place being hooked up to your amp or even found in the same car. Same goes for the JVC imo.

X4 Upgrade the JVC!

that sub is the ford pinto of subs!!!

Haha well I see the collective agreement that PA is junk (hence the extremely low price), but I plan on running 2 of the JVC's with the LRX. As far as I know, I don't really want any more bass than that would put out. :P Truthfully, the only reason that I have such a classy amp is because I got it for 300 bucks because it was refurbished by audison. Also IMO, 2 of the JVC 12's will be the most I plan on listening to. :) To be totally honest with you guys I'm quite happy with how 1 of the JVC's sounds, and I'd just be adding the second for more bass reinforcement.

$150 for a sub isn't cheap.

$20 for sub is cheap.

masterelyt 07-29-2010 09:29 AM

$150 for a sub that handles 1000W RMS with dual 2 ohm voice coils IS cheap. :P

Junkinthetrunk 07-29-2010 09:41 AM

not from that company !!

masterelyt 07-29-2010 10:06 AM

Alright, good to know >_<

The RMS number of a driver doesn't mean much in my opinion... they don't even say how they came up with that number (most companies don't anyway).

But in the grand scheme of things, you can get something pretty damn good for around 150$.

Had a Saphire series amp ones. Once of the best amps I have ever owned for the cost.

You guys are funny,
Have you ever heard the PA???
This junk will blow you away....
Now its no W7 or DD, but for the money it will put most $300+ subs to shame. I sell tons of the PA and we meter this stuff all the time, and it takes the 1000watts RMS all day and I still have not warrantied the junk yet...
Best bang for the buck hands down.

Dukk 07-30-2010 02:56 PM

Well, one often does not have to smell poo to know what poo smells like...

If people are expressing a negative opinion soley on brand name, who's fault is that?

Bill@wa 07-30-2010 06:41 PM

Well chilli looks like poo, but with the right ingrediants it smells pretty good.
besides, no one ever calls down Soundstream, and this Power Acoustik is made in the same plant, by the same Chinese labour that brings us all our favorite brands. Just because you don't like the name, don't bash it till you hear it. I've got a guy that won Street Stock B Western Finals 09'(1st Place 145db with music) with 2 PW3's in Penticton, and still going strong. Like I said before I know its not a $400.00 sub, but that is not the market this company is looking for. If you don't have the money for a T5 or XXX, a PW3 is a great sub at a great price.
