WAS good, now not so good.......bad enough they dropped them this year......

I still use a 8080 in my Regal, one of the best ever made and is still better then most on the market today. Came out in 1988.
</font>
i got an alpine 8049 and i love it. it hasnt given me one problem in over 2 years. the radar sensor works awesome. it didnt have good range at first, like 50', but i wired the remote to activate off of the trunk button on my astrostart, and now i have the same 1600' range.

Tim... Is it really worth buying an 8080? or even the 8081?

Would it be too much trouble to track a unit down with all the accessories...

I really like the Astra A-777 from Future Shop. 2200 ft of range, built in LCD and pager, dual shock, ans only $299.99 installed.

I have a Alpine 8028. Been very happy with it, but they stopped making them, and I don't know if you want to pick one up off Ebay? But they have lots of setup options and 3 extenstions.

Expand on that, what did you do ? </font>
what i did was i opened up the alpine remote, hard wired it to 12 volts so it doesnt need a batt anymore, then i connected the leads from the trunk output to a relay, then from the relay to both of the terminals on the back of the arm/disarm button inside the remote. one press of the trunk button arms, and one press of the button disarms. even the little led on the remote lites up lol. i did the same with the lock and unlock buttons on the astro remote, lock button activates drivers door solenoid, and unlock button activates the passenger door. i just took my truck into the shop at work for the big install, and if you want i can check tomorrow and let you know exactly which terminals on the relay and wiring i used to do it. its been about almost 2 years since i did it, and i forgot to load the film in my photographic memory hehe.
