Best wire for the best price aside from welding wire will be knukonceptz
Iv used them for years and will never go back to anything else. There pure ofc 5000+strand is like 3.75 a ft. Virtually unbeatable and will be at your doorstep in 2 days.
The flexibility is amazing. Even there cca 1/0 is good andd will hold 200amps as apposed to 300 for the ofc. The cca is around 1.75 a ft I believe

Check em out!

did you look at the strand count?

DnK 07-08-2011 11:27 AM

its no good?

army4ever 07-09-2011 07:35 PM

welding wire is the best bet. strand count is great. when a welder is putting 150+ amps through that wire all day long it has to be good. its also the toughest stuff you will find inside and out.

JohnnyRock1588 07-09-2011 09:28 PM

Sooo wait .. You will take 3.50ish for welding wire thatll do 170 or less amps with 1k strand count but wonmt do 3.75 for a 5k strand count and 300amps????
I don't see much logic in this and as well the best flexibility on the market

I'm thinking of buying some 0/1 Gauge and Knukonceptz seems to good to be true. Do you have any laying around? Could you measure the diameter of the copper conductor? (not including the insulation/jacket)

There is a thread on here comparing 14 types of o gauge with
All measurements check it out, it's very informative.

I can personally vouch for KnuKonceptz wire.. the stuff is ridiclously thick and it's all wire.

I recenlty piad $14/m for 1/0 from Acklandfs Granger, then $3.49/ft for the same stuff from Princess Auto when I needed more. It's INCREDIBLY flexible and 100% copper :smilie_da

I have been using the same old welding wire for 10 years to run about 1K of amps from 1700cca of batteries plus I have run a 1500w invertor that I have run from it with no issue.

Now in the interest of full disclosure, I don't have a true SQ system as I'm not running funky pups and using magic dust to enhance the transient response along with pure silver speaker wires that the virgin has pissed on for an increased sq. (defined so elegantly by df.dima a few years back) but it sounds OK to me with that welding wire :dunno:
