Hey guys,

I have been looking for a good deal on an amp that'll do 200wRMSx1 to power one 12" RF XLC 12" sub, and have been searching ebay for it.

I was wondering, are there any places where you can find good deals on car audio? Are there any retailers in Calgary that have good prices? How about online retailers that sell to canada, or canadian-based car audio e-tailers?

I don't need a top of the line amp, just something that will put out a half-way decent 200wRMSx1 - Any suggestions?

Thanks!

www.indoaudio.com sells some nice stuff and they ship the item so that there are no duty charges.

They have a nice Zapco for sale that would fit your needs: Indo Audio Zapco

There is always www.genuinecanadianaudio.com. They have some nice amps.

Then there's always the for sale section of this forum...

There are tons of respectable amps that are available in your marketplace. 200w rms x 1 is still a fairly small 2 channel amp, say about 50 - 75 w rms x 2. Spend a little time doing a search in the wanted and for sale section on the site and shop around at the local retailers, maybe they have a trade in or consignment amp to sell cheap.

Thanks for the online retailers, Muckaluck

the amp is for my younger brother, who's in high school and wants to spend under $100 on the amp, so I guess it's either holding out for a score on ebay, or going used! :(

... Anyone have anything good to say about those XS Cargo amps? Would one of their "1600w" :rolleyes: amps be able to put out 200-250w RMS if I bridged two channels together?

</font>
I don't know how they go about shipping their stuff but I received my Phoenix Gold amp on thursday from their place in California and there were absolutely no charges.

Cehck the for sale forum on here.

You should be able to find anything you need, in your price range.

</font>
I just checked the customs form. He labeled the unit price as $50 US and labeled the description as, "... warranty replacement."

I must note that it took 2 months to get the amplifier after I won the auction on ebay. I'm assuming that this is simply becuase they were expecting their order from Phoenix Gold which never came. Not the greatest policy to put items up on ebay which you don't physically have. Nevertheless, we worked out a deal and their customer service was relatively friendly.

A word I might offer to the wise is to maybe phone them up or email them before you bid on an auction to make sure they have the physical product in their warehouse.

Sorry amorak for getting a little off topic. :cool:

I would never, repeat never buy electronics from XS Cargo. Poorly refurbished items with a crappy warranty is a recipe for disaster.
For my birthday my mom bought me a Pioneer DVD player (it wasnt even that great of a deal, it was $100) from XS Cargo. I hooked it up the next day to try it for the very first time, only to find out that it didnt work. We went with the bill to return it, but they said that since 31 days had elapsed since it was purchased, they wouldnt do anything about it. I think their electronics are only warrantied for 30 days.
In this situation, my mom had shopped early,and even though we explained the situation to them (how it had been used for the first time the day before), they wouldn't exchange it for a working one. I had a friend around the same time who had a similar situation with an electronic item he bought there...it stopped working after 6 weeks, and they wouldn't do a thing about it.
