Who would do a 20"?

I have received samples in the past and personally feel they are over the edge. Heck, 18" units are too big for many.

What's your take on something like this?

Best,
Mark

tristanxoxo 05-09-2007 08:49 PM

Hi Mark. Personally, it's too big whether in the car or house. But I'm sure some of the SPL guys would love a 20"

Riddle_Rob 05-09-2007 09:09 PM

If I could acquire one at a goooood price I'd try it out in the bed of my truck on an angle or something.

zzzzzzz 05-09-2007 09:36 PM

what is the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ on one ?

DesolataX 05-09-2007 11:09 PM

I would go for 4 18"s like on that Dr. Pepper Commercial.

Anyways, What is the price for a 20"?

-m- 05-09-2007 11:58 PM

Mark would this be a 20" like the proto you sent me or something along the lines of the MAW18? The 20 I have sounds very good in a large PA enclosure but it just won't hit the lows that your MAW18's do. I think if you can make a MAW18 version of the 20" though you may sell enough to make it worth your while. As usual price would be the main deciding factor...but a lot of people go for wow factor and a niec 20" would definetly score poionts there. IMHO there just hasn't been a decent subwoofer made for a car that is bigger than 18"..doesn't mean it can't be done though.

Mach 5 05-10-2007 07:18 AM

Yeah, it sure is a large size. I would estimate ~$250 - $300 per unit. A person would only need one tho.. ;)

Sound_Deamon 05-10-2007 07:44 AM

i would try these to see what they can do ....

zinger002 05-10-2007 04:20 PM

make some rims out of them haha. 20 is too big to fit in my car haha.
would be sick tho.

just one ?

zzzzzzz 05-10-2007 05:22 PM

what power would it need ?

AAAAAAA 05-10-2007 05:47 PM

I would have to consider it for my future home theater subwoofer, although I woulnd't want an abnormally huge box.

Mach 5 05-10-2007 06:15 PM

Yeah, it would probably be simply too large for car audio use. Most definately 'aw factor' potential, but not practical.

I may however just design a couple of prototypes for the heck of it tho... ;)

Thanks for the input.

Best,
Mark

Deitz 05-10-2007 06:50 PM

well..might be too big for most people..but i have a full sized van..thats like a living room wheels!..give me 4!

Mach 5 05-10-2007 06:57 PM

You got it! :D

Viperoni 05-10-2007 07:48 PM

Do a single upfiring 20" sub with the port to the back, that'd be cool-ass and would keep it low enough.

Toddyboy 05-10-2007 08:13 PM

i'd def be interested between the seats in my truck

hott-nix 05-10-2007 08:19 PM

id try one out. i have the space.
price seems pretty good for a sub that size

Mach 5 05-10-2007 08:45 PM

Guys, are you willing to give up your existing sub system for this thing? Viper and Hott, I thought everything was a-o-k...

I'm still in talks with the OEM about parts, so it may be awhile. However, if there's enough interest, we could arrange something. I probably won't hear from the OEM for at least a week. After that, we will discuss this *much* further in the Mach 5 vendor forum...

Best,
Mark

DesolataX 05-10-2007 09:37 PM

I'd go for a 20", definitely. Would have to convert the entire rear of my CRV, but I would do that.

But damn, that would definitely give you the biggest penis on the block.

Riddle_Rob 05-10-2007 09:57 PM

^^^ BWAHAHAHA Biggest Penis on the block..

Be funny actually, "what you runnin? pair of 12's?" "nope, 20"" "theres no such thing!!!" "until now..check this out" **super jaw dropping and penis shrivelling**

i absolutly love my maw15 but am selling to move up to the 18. if i could get my hands on a 20, hell yeah i would switch (long as i have a 2 ohm final load so i can get every last watt out of my amp)

Riddle_Rob 05-10-2007 11:53 PM

Actually come to think of it, it would be a really good show piece to glass a 20" into a spare tire well...just a thought.

as far a a-ok yes hotts is that why its goin between the seats of my truck tommorrow haha i think hes goin to the 18 or somthing like thay

DesolataX 05-12-2007 01:31 AM

I would definitely have to get a bigger amp if I ever got one of these 20"s. 500w @ 2 ohms wouldn't even move the cone lol.

goalie 35 05-12-2007 11:45 PM

i will take two if you got them.... i used to have a stroker 18 running off strapped crossfire bmf 1000s and loved it ,man 20inch subssss hummmmm just think.
