Good deal or not?

Good deal or not?
I'm considering getting a double DIN video head unit (without GPS). I was mostly focusing on Pioneer, however, there is a JVC KW-AVX810 available at a reduced price.
On paper this seems like a fairly decent unit. it's removable screen, has USB and SD card slot, 5v preouts.
The only downside is.... it's a futureshop (and i kinda hate them right now, long story). The product used to be listed on their website until about a week ago, now it's not there anymore.
I was in the store yesterday and they have some in stock for 'clearance' of $399.
Any opinions? Is there anything better out there for that price range? I don't mind spending a bit more if it means getting a quality product, but as far as i've heard JVC isn't exactly crap..
Thanks for any input.

Eli47 are you trying to say one party would not benefit from this purchase?
I might normally agree with you that both parties should benefit, but in this case, we're talking about futureshop. So really, i couldn't care less if they benefit from the sale or not. If they make a profit (which i have no doubt they still would even at this reduced price) it doesn't concern me.
Dealing with a local store, yes i can see how they might not be able to match certain discount prices that large chain box stores can and as a result, i wouldn't expect to get a product where the profit margin is super thin.
Anyways, thanks for the comments. Eli, do you have anything to say about the product itself being good/bad?

JVC makes pretty decent double din units from what I've heard! Future shop does have their 30 day return policy if you dont like it, or you can get their extended service crap and take it back a year later and complain about screen sensitivity and stuff, because they probably wont be able to fix it due to lack of parts and such, there service plans say they have to get you a new unit, which means free upgrade!!

lol Ozz.
hmmm i've never thought of it that way. I'm not the kind of person who would usually do something like that. It can't be that easy, can it?
I'm not a fan of those extended warranty plans, so i prob wouldn't bother getting it anyways.
I do see that the few units they have for sale are listed as 'open box' but that shouldn't be a big deal, i don't think they're 'used' in the traditional sense, except the floor demo model, which still isn't bad - for that price.
Still seeing if something better pops up.
Is this even a good time to buy? right before the xmas season and the arrival of new products and the dumping of last years models...

Most people dont like them, not really a big surprise to most.
I used to work at Future Shop not too far back, and can tell you it is just that easy! Future Shop try very very hard to promote their extended warrenty plans because there are lots of people who dont believe in them, in fact, I used to hate them! But if anything, even the smallest thing goes wrong, they treat you like gold, because they want you to tell your friends to buy their plans to, which I guess works, because Im telling you about this now. Anything hazardous to or un-practical to ship, they replace in store. In my period working there, I saw wayyy too many big shitty rear projection TV's come back dead on the plan and the owners reciving new LCD and Plasma screens on the plan. I've replaced my Xbox on it because it was power surging, and 2 xbox controller which were sticking, they gave me new ones over the counter!!
Im not trying to sell it to you, im just saying its not taking advantage of it if you take back your stuff after a year or 2 and expect to get brand new stuff.
Also, open box stuff, great deal, its usually 30 day returns that get "open boxed". So essentially new stuff, for much less money, you can ALWAYS bargin the opened stuff!!

Ozz, thanks for the info. I MAY look into a warrenty in that case. As for the 'open box' items - the price on them ca be negotiated? hmmm interesting.
One question: who do you talk to around there to get a deal?
honestly i have NEVER ever ever seen anyone that even looks like a 'manager' around there. Usually it's always kids in the departments who can barely recite the standard product lines. Talking to one about getting a reduced price would be painful.
Anyways, thanks for the info. much appreciated.
