most new cars come with a "premium stereo" so ppl do not upgrade speakers and H/U's

its more based on connectivitiy products that allow you to play your ipod or mp3 player in your car.

newer cars are MUCH better in the audio department with more variety and options like bt mp3 ipod integration. also sound has become a better selling point on most new vehicles and i think the major manufactures finally caught on in the past few years how much people love sound and technology overall in their vehicles. i for one would love a new 100,000$ vehicle that comes tricked out with everything you will ever need. i just dont have that kind of money ha so in my 10,000$ car i put the money into aftermarket gear and like davibe said recycle and help out guys who are getting started into car audio or guys who wanna try new products.

i dont think the "scene" is dieing, i think "commercially" things have changed such as 20 years ago if you had fiberglass work that was shiny and painted to match your car it was "cool" and had that wow factor. now i think stealth and factory integration WITH CLASS and subtle tasteful refined elements in a car is far more "cool" and has a better wow factor. Id rather sit in a luxury benz where you cant see a speaker anywhere with a great system than a tricked out import with fiberglass doors with multiple speakers and screens and have the same overall "sound." But then again its all about preference and to each his own. your money can tell you what you wanna do with audio. personally i'll always want great sound in my car as i spend a lot of time there so why not invest in something that you can hear daily. kinda like if you have a home theatre, why would you go to the movies when you just invested 20k into your living room? needs change over time but you know that there will always be a desire for improved sound in any application if you are a movie or music lover.

Unfortunately it is all about the biggest jewls especially in this industry. The louder and the more stuff has kept car audio going, and SPL drove that want...
The most value I get out of a CAR AUDIO system is it's ability to be admired for being factory looking or stealth and incidentally, that's the part that has the least to do with selling audio product and the most to do with the skills of the shop doing the install...
What is the point if you want it to look factory...I personally do not care that there are a $1500.00 pair of components behind the factory door panels, I would much rather see them...and as for SQ I personally like the way my home stereo sounds much better...I think this is why many people jumped on the SPL band wagon, it is less bias, gets the guys more bragging rights...See you blew out the back window with 1000 watts, imagine what you could do with 5 or 10,000 watts....
To each their own regarding install... and yes, I understand about the jewel size being all important but the install is absolutely crucial imho when someone has 40, 50 or 60+ grand in a car.

now that there is a world finals venue near by in the east and the west , this should get more competitors back in the lanes and get more shows going , when competitors have , goals and things to shoot for there is more likely going to be more shows , and competitors in the lanes , that is why orgs like iasca are seeing that they have to have satalite locations in order to keep iasca going in more regions then just a couple , the competitor base will grow larger being theres a finals that we can commit to , east and west

Yes that's true, but only for SPL....
The same commitment has not been made for SQ or Installation competition categories.
SPL wins again...and SQ suffers unfortunately.

moe said if there is enough interest they would do sq down in cali at finals , i dont see why they couldnt use the best judges in the world to judge the sq finals eve if it wasnt all the same judges i think it would be fair to have satalite locationsfor sq the sq competitors just need to get on moe about this

I just figured out today why the industry is getting hit hard in todays recession. I had a sales rep. for a big company tell me that "Loyalty" is no longer a word in todays car audio industry. Basically saying that if you can give him a 2500 dollar order you can carry his product. Everyone is trying to make a few dollars, and then some internet company or some yahoo gives the product away...The race to zero...who can give it away the fastest...and it is not just in car audio. We have all been hoodwinked into thinking we need more stuff, and the die hard hobbiest and card traders, that built their respective companies are forced to give it away!!! I know sell the service, but we are not servicing rocket scienctist, and therefore in the effort to save even more money we do it ourselves. Can you tell I've had a bad day, customer from hell that wastes my time and never buys from me??? Cheaper on the internet he tells me!!

companys like sonic electronix an hifisounds make it difficult for shops to make it , when theres sites that sell 5000 watt amps for 100 bucks , and speaker sets for 25 bucks its very hard for local buisness's to make anythng , totally agreee bill

I spoke to Moe S about this also, for now at least it boils down to a financial consideration. I agree w you that more interest will get things going and possibly have a true East v West North Am finals ( and maybe even a potential intercontinental or World Finals) if the judging logistics can ever be arranged.
