Why did my amp get fried?

I unhooked my Visonik V900XD and lent it to someone for a couple days. I hooked it up, and as soon as I turned the deck on, car off, the amp started crackling and smoking like crazy. I didn't wire it up wrong. WTF happened?! :dunno:

sounds like your buddy had a drinking contest with your amp!

that is a stout amp, I had one of these!! Mine was great to me after I got it repaired for doing something VERY similar!! I unhooked it for a few days, hooked it up, with a 2nd battery, and it popped, let a huge smoke show go, then it decided to not work anymore!! So I sent mine in for repair, then used it for a few months and sold it!! , Sorry about your amp man!!

Could it of happened if the ground wasn't grounded? It touched the 12v wire and sparked before I put the amp in. Everything else works fine. There was a LOT of smoke, I'm almost positive you can't fix it, I heard it COOK! Time to start from scratch.

Crack it open and take some pics, would love to see that mess.

shitty deals, always disconnect your battery before working on car electronics..

Notice burns on the bottom right. It doesn't look burnt anywhere else.

I would say from the location you had a short on one of the channels.

That does not look all that bad, it looks fixable.
