Will a newer model Kia infotainment system work in and older model Kia?

Looking at putting a 2017 Kia Rio infotainment system into a 2012 Kia Rio. Found a new faceplate that is 2DIN and wants to know if it will fit? Anyone done it before and what did need to do? Any tips or tricks?
