I noticed yesterday that some papers in my door's storage compartment were moving with the music. Looks like air is moving in and out where the black molding of the door attaches to the door panel. Would it be worth my time to pull out the speaker and seal the inside of the speaker chamber for the 5¼? I am running Alpine Type R components.

Thanks

Any time you totally seal off a midrange in a door is a good thing. Sealing off the back and front waves will deffinatly improve the quality if the midrange. I would play with it to see what difference it makes.

Agreed....

You will also raise it's resonant frequency, and improve mechanical power handling...

Don't make the enclosure too small. You will loose midbass and make the speaker resonate on vocals.

I have Alpine Type R 5¼ mids in the doors now....what would be a good volume for these speakers? So I don't make em too small.
