i posted this on sounddomain and haven gat any definate answeres yet so maby you guys can help

i have a single 12 "ultimate cupric subwoofer acw1200 (brown cone).built ported box according to the manuf. spectfication 1.3cf with at 14.5*3 inch port(including port and sub displacement). supposed to be tuned to about 33hz .rounded the port edges and i have port noise!.(its also impossable to fit that port in the box it has to stick out 1 inch)so i decide to build a slot port box instead or maby 6th order pandpass and maby ABC not sure yet .but anyways i get my manual to get the specs for the sub to plug into winisd and it only gives me
fs 23.2
vas 3.4
xmax .75"
qts .3413

is this enough info for winisd to give accurate info?

so i figure the web site migh have all the other t/s parameters.i go there and look it up and those parameter dont even match the ones in the manual.wtf!.tried calling them and emaild them 3 time over the past few months and no responce.

does anyone have the right t/s parameters for this sub?

the only respone i got that was helpfull was:
-------------------------------------------
Ultimate ACW1200 (straight from winisd)
QTS-.418
VAS-2.100FT^3
FS-25.00HZ
XMAX-.63"
QMS-8.190
QES-.440
SPL-85.28
-------------------------------------------
this is totally differnt from my manual and from ultimates web site?

does anyone have the right parameters?

I have Bassbox Pro 6 and I checked for the parameters, what you had was all I could find for this sub also. Car Audio & Electronics Magazine tested it against three other subs in October of 2001, and they got these results:

BL: 9.52 TM
VAS: 54.1 Liters
CMS: 213.8
MMS: 158.6 grams
FS: 27.3 HZ
QMS: 8.31
QES: .50
QTS: .47

FOr simulation they recommended 1.3 cubes sealed, 1.5 cubes vented.

Ultimate ACW1200
"The ACW1200's cone is the most unique looking of all the subs. A metal cone with a copper-like color, its front side needs to be shown off. Both the build and sound quality of this subwoofer are more like the Earthquake than either the Audiobahn or MA Audio.
In fact, the sound of the Ultimate is more like the Earthquake than the other two. On Nirvana's "Lithium" the ACW1200 reproduced the rock solid kick drum; it was like slapping a pool of water with flat board. With Yello and Salif Keita, it also hit really hard.

One downside of the ACW1200 was its power handling. It was possible to make it audibly distort at full throttle, but I knew that because of its 400 watt limit. The good side of that is you can hear the distortion and back it down. This is serious SPL and will cause damage. The only other issue was a tendency for the bass notes to run together where the notes tend to sound the same. With the highest in-box Q of the group this result is to be expected as there is a much larger rise in the frequency response at the resonance in the enclosure. This could also be contributed to the cone as just taping the cone yield a resonance at a similar tone. The Ultimate does everything, but at a lower price, a lower level and with more accurate bass than the MA Audio or the Audiobahn. Check it out for a system with 250-400 watts of bass power per driver."

Hope this helps! I ran it through Bassbox, and it recommended, for an SQ application, about 1.5 cubic feet, with some polyfill in there. It recommended a low tuning of around 25hz, if you bumped it up to about 33hz then you could do a slot vent that was 8" high, 1.5" wide, and 17" deep. That should not give you too muc port noise, by looking at the Vent Velocity chart, maybe one of the box pros can give you some more input into this. I ran the 1.3 cube vented box through, with the numbers you gave, and the vent velocity peaked around 21 m/sec/hz, which might be high, I am not sure......

On the Bassbox driver databse there are three separate ACW1200's listed, a regular one, one that is ACW1200S, and one that is listed under Parts Express(maybe they sold a rebadged version of it?). http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...ID=16058&DID=7

i know the first ones they sold had a brown cone and some had a silver cone.im guessing the acw1200 is the one i have and the acw1200s is the one with the silver cone.can you post the t/s for the acw1200.

as for ever buying an ultimate product again they have no customer service and dont respond to emails.the specs on the web site dont match the ones in my manual.

The specs posted above are for the ACW1200, they were the measured T/S parameters from the magazine test. Try this: Call 888-909-9988 for technical assistance. 909-594-2604 I got those from the PDF for the ACW1200 off of the site, try calling them again, maybe. You might have to call the long distance number, to get any response.
