wiring a second amp

if i want to wire up a amp for my 4 speakers, is it the same process as a amp for a sub? do i have to rewire all the speaker wires or can i use the original ones somehow? what else what would i need other than the wiring?

I'm sure various people will post different views and it depends on how intense you are on your stereo. Personally, when i ran a second amp, i piggy backed the remote wire off the first. Used a distroblock for the power wires and made an attempt to ground both amps to the same spot.

As for wiring speakers, I ran speaker wire from the amp to the deck to meet the existng speaker wires. I let those run into the doors and it's worked fine for me. I'm sure the default wire guage is pretty small and if you're running hundred's of watt's to your speakers, soemthing a lil bit bigger might be in order.

I only run give or take 75w to my components. and 35w to the rear speakers....so I don't think there's a bi g difference.

Thats my thoughts n take on it all.

low RMS for the fronts u can take the original rear wires hook them up to the front original wires and that saves u the trouble of running new speaker wires if the amp is mounted in the trunk u just run a few ft piece to the rears and ure set, save alot of time for like i said low RMS amps. That what i did anyways saved me a big headache cause i woulda had to rip part of the dash out to rewire. :dunno: not shure if this help with the kind of vehicle u might have.

wiring is easy. take oft the trim panels, run the wire, put the trim panels back.
Use the old wire to pull the new wire into the doors.

Use 14 ga. wire and get the good stuff, superflexable, if thats a word.

do u guys think its better to run RCA cables from the head unit to the amp or use speaker wire as the one suggested. thats for a mid range amp not sub.
