wiring up a 4 channel amp and sub amp

I ordered a 4 channel JL audio amp and it has 4RCA inputs
Also i have a 2 channel MTX BLUE THUNDER sub amp.

currently i'm using a stock head unit and used a scosche signal converter to piggy back a signal off the rear speakers to convert it to rca for the sub amp.

now that i have a 4 channel amp, i'm looking at getting a new head unit

would i need a head unit that has rcas for :front(RL), rear(RL) a sub out?
i noticed most head units only have 2rca outs.
i wanna be able to controle the speakers front to back left to front.

ideas? thanks.

buy a deck with 3 sets of pre-outs.

there is alot of decks that have them... usually your 150.00 and up decks though.

than you can eliminate that SLOC you are using (SOUND LEVEL OUT CONVERTER)

here is another idea, why not sell off the SLOC and sell off the mtx and use the JL 4ch amp to power your front speakers and bridge the rears to power your sub?

cause the subs need more power than the 4channel amp outputs

what kind of sub?

what model amp?

Gamesy 08-14-2011 08:57 PM

amp is a JL 320W 4channel

subs are 2 RF HK2 10" and 2 Apline SWE1245

ohh so you got 4 subs?

ya and no trunk space :P i'm thinking of just sellin off the Alping 12"s

hmm... might be a good idea... than get yourself a deck with 3 sets of pre-outs and than change your wiring and your all set!

i've been looking at maybe putting in a DD screen deck, seems like they have 4 rca outs and a sub out. i guess i'll see

or the cheaper way i guess would be get a basic deck and run the sub line off that and use this

to just convert the wires to rca for all 4 channels
