would I get louder bass?
I have 10" 2ohm DVC Alpine Type R (300wrms) wired at 4ohm to and MRD-M605 amp(400wrms at 4ohm and 600wrms at 2ohm). I was wondering If I get the newer 4ohm DVC with 500wrms rating and wire it at 2 ohm to the same amp.
The sub is in a custom sonotube sealed enclosure which is about 0.5-0.6 cu.ft Would it be louder and hit harder ? |
Are you saying getting the exact same sub in dual 4 ohm? It would have to be a different model to have a higher RMS though... No one can predict the difference in bass by more power, I'd say it wont make a difference.

Yes it will be slightly louder as it's an improved model and handles 200 more rms watts. Plus you will be throwing more power at it because you'll be running at 2 ohms.

I'd look into different enclosure designs, before forking out the money for a new sub, with little to be gained.. that being said, everyone loves new equipment.

SQ Civic is right, I would personally check out a ported box for that sub. I've run both the 10's and 12's old and new style. They respond well to a ported box compared to a sealed in terms of loudness.

as posted you'll get more power with that amp... but you should make sure the new sub will work alright in a box that small before you arbitrailly choose it...

I've spent so many hours building that sonotube without having all the proper tools and it came out so nice that I don't want to part with it. I guess I'll build a new ported box when it gets warm after the winter to see if I could get it to sound a bit better.

have you thought of getting another subwoofer as you have right now and running them both @ 2ohm from the amp?
you amp produces 300W@ 4ohm and 600W@2ohm i believe |
