Would love some advice please.
 

Hi, I'm buying a honda civic(lol) a 2002.. inna month and I just wanna add some half decent subs that'll pump and get me noticed..

i don't know alpine subs at all so no comment here, the amp has good reviews though.
hopefully someone else with more knowledge will chime in.

there are lots of places to buy!
look at car audio stores in your area and listen to what they have in you price range. let your ears tell you what you like.

you check the buy and sell here on the forum. there are always great deals on used equipment.
if your in GTA might i suggest!
S&S Electronics. Chris always has great deals going on and he is very honest. he rebuilds electronics (amps, subs) he also carries new stock.
if 100% new is what you are after check George at Number1 sound, be forewarned he will talk your ear off but hes a very nice guy who is honest, and will definitely have something for you in your price range.

Also if I have a 1000watt rms mono amp.. and I want to connect 2 2ohms 12" subwoofers.. (500watt rms a peice) would that work or should I look for a two chanel?

1000wrms will power 2x 500wrms but not safely at 1000wrms!
never set the amp to do more than 80% of its rated power. doing so will create unclean power that will damage your subs. if you want 1000wrms get an amp that has a power rating around 1200wrms or more. this way you have head room and will not sent unclean power (clipping) to the subs. also make sure the amp is stable at the ohms rating you want. in your case 2ohms.

there is nothing wrong with used or rebuilt items. as long as you know where they are coming from. a lot of people here buy and sell all the time with very little hickups as far a quality goes. most have a reputation here for being honest and will tell you straight up if anything is wrong with the items in question. check the buy and sell section and ask the seller for references. you will find more for much less there and will be happier for it (money in your pocket) at the end of the day.
keep the multi channels for your speakers not the subs! all im saying is, there is no need to use them for subs.

Two 12" TypeR's is a great choice. Having 1000W available to them is perfect. Good start.

You also have the correct model chosen for the subs. 4 voice coil terminals at 2 ohm each will allow you to wire the voice coils on each subwoofer in series (brings each load up to 4) then wire the woofers in parallel to bring the load back to 2, for connection at the amp. Because this amp only has 1 set of speaker terminals it makes in a bit trickier. Some Mono amps have two speaker terminals, yet they're still only one channel. The terminals are parallel with each other inside the amp. So if you wired two 4 ohm loads to each terminal, the parallel connection inside the amp would create a 2 ohm load, and you'd get the output at 2 ohm.

Check out East Hamilton Radio. They carry Alpine equipment. Last time I was there they had at least 40 TypeR subs on the floor, probably bought a bunch at a good price, so you should be able to get two for less than what BB sells them for.

Keep in mind that you need money for install, wiring, etc. What does the vehicle have for a head unit? Do you have something lined up for that?

Throw everything out the window right now, start with the box. What box are you going to use? A prefab where you can hope for the best or have a custom one built? If you want to do your sub system PROPERLY, have the box built for the subs chosen, then choose the amp for the subs. Bass response is all about the box, screw up on it and the best subs in the world are worthless to you. What is the cd player that is going to be used was already asked, what about future expansion? That much power is going to turn you into a bass machine and you will be unable to accurately listen to the other speakers in the vehicle.

Thanks for the advice guys, Yeah I knew that I could wire up 2ohms subs to stay at 2ohms.. if the mono amp only have one terminal should that be a huge problem?

As for the amp and box.. well I'll probably need some kinda crazy box to fit 2 12"ers in a 2002 honda civic 4dr..

I suggest you listen to different combinations of amp power w/ subs. You may find that one 12" with a higher RMS is more to your liking than two 12"s with a lower RMS.

As far as using a 1000W amp with two 500WRMS subs, I don't foresee the issues that nghtrdr is talking about. The amplifier isn't always sending out 1000W. Its output depends on the signal being sent from the head-unit, and what you do with the Input Sensitivity (gain) setting on the amp. If you set your amplifier incorrectly, then yes you would encounter problems. If you were to set a 1200W amplifier incorrectly, your problems would be 20% more likely to cause damage to your equipment.
Nghtrdr, I understand what you're saying. Buying an amplifier that is capable of more output, but using it for less, should help increases the longevity of the amplifier.

like can my car handle that ?
