WTF is the new eclips 1000 made by JVC

the same harness,same cage,the same cases.different face

MR2NR 04-09-2006 01:40 PM

Maybe JVC is not making their own deck either.......perhaps they both are coming out of the same build factory. I doubt that the internals are going to be the same but if you have both of them, take them apart and post the pics.

MarkB 04-09-2006 06:32 PM

in many industries, a lot of companies use the same build houses.

ShonBesharah 04-10-2006 07:14 AM

Ive seen it before. Its just a big suprise to see it from eclips.

First off
*thanks for posting this thread in the Black Void...that's professinal!

I have heard the same comment from dealers, but no one offers free shipping both ways for any warranty issues. And of course I have no idea who builds what etc. But the CD1000 is a price point piece with alot of "eclipse" features that are not available. Cheers!

Its just wierd that a company who's name is so respected, and has built there reputation on higher end products would lower there standards. The new deck looks cheap. Im worried in 5 years we'll be talking about how great eclips was. Lets hope they dont take the same path as rockford.
And just incase your wondering, the JVC 300 series face fits but doesnt work.( the sales staff couldnt resist)
With fuj-ten huge manufacturing ability they should be able to make there own decks.
maybe next year macintosh will get audiovox to poop out some entry level decks for them, and maybe they wont look like crap

BassHamster 04-12-2006 12:45 PM

purely from a sales perspective.... now our customers can have the eclipse name in their car without paying the eclipse prices. thats pretty much the only good point i can come up with for the cd1000. other than that it really doesnt stand out much.

MR2NR 04-12-2006 01:19 PM

Now that Eclipse is in bed with the big box, when the big box can control the manufacturer, bad things happen. In 5 years time, Eclipse will also have succumbed to the control of the big box when they chose to put 95% of their eggs into the big boxes basket. Nice way to build a line off the backs of the indipendents. Mind you I wonder what great new line we can replace Eclipse with for the next 10 years....... Eclipse had a 10 year plan for the indies, perhaps the indies should have had a 10 year plan for Eclipse.

First to responsed to Shon's remarks. Look at Alpine the last two years. The product they are offering at the entry level is not all that great. I never expected to see a $99 retail Alpine headunitbut I did last week in the 2001 AV flyer in the GTA. That does not look good on a premium brand no matter how you look at it. Also most of their decks have 2 volt preouts this year and very little features.

Now to respond on the indies issue. I have many new indies opening up with the line because Future Shop is advertising the product for them. Many delears are making full margin on the product also thanks to Future Shop. Future Shop has not abbused the pricing on the product. I have more happy dealers since Future Shop started carrying the line.

If there is one thing that 20 years in this industry has shown me, it's not to beleive one word of what a manufacturer or distributor says. "FS will not budge on the pricing of the CD5425 from $349.00". Next week, it is on sale for $329.00 installed. One week after that, "FS will not have free install on the CD5425", right then so why was it on sale again with free install. One week later again here it is again for $299 installed yet "I don't know Rob, I know the buyer for FS and he guaranteed me that this would not happen". So whom is the liar, the buyer, the manufacturer (who could care less), the distributor (who did nothing) or my rep (who only passed along what he heard).

So looking into my well known and highly reliable crystal ball, I don't believe a word in your second paragraph that you just wrote Richard, no offence intended (and in no reflection of the job that you do either). This phrase has been around longer than most people have been in retail and while it may fool some of the younger people, the old dogs know better. Lets revisit this same topic in 2 years and 5 years and see exactly what has happened, should make a interesting discussion.

Westec 04-13-2006 01:28 AM

When the product becomes 1 year one, its open season on the prices (onlast years products). All season they never sold it for less than $20.00 off of retail!

MR2NR 04-13-2006 11:46 AM

James, I'll take that bet and raise you a bottle of Crown. This all happened within the first month of FS taking on the line. I still have all of the e-mails back and forth saved somewhere. I still have all the advertisements somewhere as well.

Dukk 04-13-2006 03:35 PM

If you guys want to start an Indy vs. Box thread, then go ahead. Drop it in this thread please.

This topic of this thread is what a POS the new Eclipse piece is.

MR2NR 04-13-2006 04:18 PM

I was not trying to start it up at all, merely pointing out some facts that I know to be true. But if you would care to discuss what makes the new CD1000 such a POS, I am all ears as I have about 20 of them here. Have you had them coming back for service, have you installed them yet, have you heard them in person yet? From my understanding FS does not even have these cd players in house yet (at least here they do not)..... so Paul, do tell. If this thing is a POS, I want to know about it as they are all going back.

Oh and :cheeky4:

Dukk 04-14-2006 10:25 AM

Did I call it a POS? If so - please show me where.

You had two prior posts and all they did was bash the Big Box. Then anyone who disagrees with you, you attack. If this place is so distressing, why bother stopping by? I don't understand it. :dunno:

MR2NR 04-14-2006 01:10 PM

Ok, Ok, I win. Perhaps I am blind or misread your writing. To me it seems as though you have formed a opinion on it based on your comments above.

"This topic of this thread is what a POS the new Eclipse piece is."

Just looking for some clarification here, no need to be Mr. Spilly Pants about it.

To me the topic of this thread was "WTF is the new Eclipse 1000 made by JVC"

Paulie, stop being a post Nazi -- no one says anything when you say how much better you like working for the Big Box.

I know this is not the right thread to state this in; however, I agree Rob in the 22 years I have been in the industry I have seen this happen before too. That is why I try not to carry "Big Box Gear" whenever possible.

WTF is the new Eclipse 1000 made by JVC
lol, Rob - I'm sorry, I assumed that statement was not a compliment ;) From now on when people ask I will offer up that Eclipse is every bit as good as JVC. ok? ;)

Paulie, stop being a post Nazi -- no one says anything when you say how much better you like working for the Big Box.
I never bring it up unless it is the topic. Others bring it up regardless of the topic. And I have seen just as many indys drop their pants to shuffle off product so slide down off the high horse Mike.
