xover ?

I'm installing a system in a car. Question is sould I use an active 2xs crossover or not.

System
Alpine 9855 HU
Audison srx3 Amp
mb quart front components with their own external xover
Jl audio 10w3 sub

So sould i use the audio control or not?

Thx guys and gals

You don't need more x-overs. The x-over in the headunit and amp will suffice. Cascading more x-overs than you need is not a good thing...it adds distortion and lowers s/n ratio.

remember fewest components to do the job is golden. K.I.S.S, not that I'm calling you stupid. As far as noise goes, the fewer the better. That Alpine has a very powerful bass engine processor that is more than enough for most systems.

Listen to these guys, they know what they are talking about. back in the day when I had Audiocontrol components, I always had alternator whine, don't know about their newer units, but I had an EQL, EQX and 4xs and they ALL gave me noise...
Plus it's a lot easier to change your desired frequency with your deck, not some modules!!

All audiocontrol peices do not have engine noise. Our buddy over here just needs a few installation pointers to get rid of it. K.I.S.S is a great rule. However i never sacrafice the control I want. I have 2 64 band eq's on my system, without a speck of noise. From what your saying it sounds like you wont need the extra crossovers though.

thank you guys . thats what i was thinking just needed so reassurance from the knownledgeable people on the board.

? # 2 do you think the 5.25 esa 213 mb quarts that I am using will have enough ummph for the intended system.
