You Can't Always Get What You Want...

Hiya all,

First a bit of information...I'm 67 and still rockin...just not as loud as I used to. Just bought a 2017 Ford Edge with a standard audio package. It has 6 speakers and no amp (as far as I know.) I have searched for information on this system but have been unable to find anything yet. I am wondering.... if I have an amp put in...do I have to have a sub also? As i mentioned I don't listen as loud as I used to and my wife doesn't appreciate classic rock. Also, I'm not out to rattle windows when I drive down the street. So what can I expect from a 4 channel amp between 50-75 rms with just the 6 speakers being replaced to match the amp? Any and all help will be appreciated.

Easily done sir

Purchase a summing device, such as the Memphis Audio LL6A, that will take the signal coming from your factory radio and fill in all of the missing frequencies and fill in the bass drop-offs that occur with many new OEM sound systems today. Then, purchase a 5-channel Memphis Audio VIV900.5 amplifier, Memphis Audio MCX60C in the front doors, MCX6 in the rear doors, BRX840 subwoofer, and make sure you are having this all installed by the same shop you purchase it from from so you are fully covered in case there are any product issues in the future. Memphis is very good about covering the customer as long as they purchase and install from an authorized dealer. There are a number of ways to go about having great sound from your factory radio in that vehicle. I'm just suggesting quality sound components and integrating it all the CORRECT way.

Good Luck!

Thank you for your suggestions. I will do a search on the Memphis products. Rolling Sound told me he installs the JL Audio so I have been looking mainly at their products. Question...(dumb question) a signal processor is the same as a line level driver? What I read about the signal processor would enable me to get "less" amp (ie. 70x4rms vs 50x4rms) due to the gains a signal processor creates?
again thanks for your help :)

A signal processor makes the signal full and clean going into your amplifier, thus giving you more performance of the amplifier and speakers being driven by the amp or amps. Basically, you’re not taking a cruddy signal coming from your factory radio and amplifying the crud..... Start with a low quality signal and amplify that low quality signal, then all you get in return is louder low quality which makes everything sound lifeless.
