Currently: Premier DEH-P630. Nice deck for the $399 I paid for it. Internal EQ (semi-parametric) and xover, dual pre-outs, remote, nice VU meter display.

Future: I have an Alpine 7930 or an original Clarion 9255 to choose from for my next system. I very much like my 7930 as it is very simple, very nice sounding, has the features I need but isn't very flashy looking. The 9255 I have not used yet but picked it up for a price that would make Slingshot cry and considering it's reputation, I may just try it out.

Panasonic CQ-DF401U

At the time it was the cheapest HU with 3 sets of preouts in the area and umm...it glows in the dark

Gettin close to 3 years I think now and not one problem

Kenwood KDC 216. Lowest model Kenwood from 2001? Very reliable, only problem with it the lower volume button sticks now, but besides that, it is a great unit. I'll use it till it finally dies.

Hopefully my next head unit will be mini disc.

2 H/U's

Pioneer DEH-2400 with a 3400 face(thanks Juniorsfe)
Pros:Only cost me for the face(one day..hehe)
clean power(well..cleaner anyway)
with the 3400 face make it remote compatible
Cons:Buttons are a little small for my liking

2nd HU
1973 Dyn 8 track player with remote mounted on a removable mounting bracket
Pros:Removable
has a remote with a pause switch and track selector button making it possible to compete outside the car with it
pretty sure it will be pretty dang loud
Cons:
No volume control on remote
Years of neglect make volume controls staticy
finding tapes that dont break at the click track is a b***h..

Clarion 835MP for me. Bought it this summer, been pretty satisfied since then.

Pros:
-Changing colors is cool
-Chrome and black chrome acccents
-Motorised face
-Sub volume on the face
-Rotary volume
-Easy to use menus
-Control over practically eveything and anything I could ever possibly want via CeNET
-It's a great value (lotsa options for the price I paid: 400$ NIB)

Cons:
-Although they're "4 volt", the 2V preouts on my old DEH-P3300 sounded louder.
-Display and buttons sometimes hard to read in direct sunlight
-Long MP3 access time
-You can't change folders right on the remote in mp3 mode.

That being said, even though I like my Clarion deck, I'll probably change this summer/fall for either an Eclipse or eXcelon.

well, most dashes are matte black and I prefer not to have my HU stick out like a sore thumb ... I like things to flow and having a silver rectangle in a all black dash doesn't really flow IMO

Ah, gotcha. You know, I was thinking on replacing my dash trim to an aluminum colour, and if it was too bright, to anodize it a charcoal or dark grey colour to match. Just a thought you can try too.
