Your head unit......
Not too many newer Kenwoods out there so here's mine:
KDC-X869
Dmask, 3X 5volt preouts, adjustable angle face, nice feel to the rotary volume control, plays everything but wma, decent display, and looks good in my dash. Sounds real good too. No troubles even during the coldest days we've had lately

McIntosh MX406 a McIntoshed Clarion DRX9255. Similar comments a great sounding no nonsense deck. A true rotary **** for volume/fade and a **** for track/function (CD/tuner/aux). Classic Mac looks, it looks like original equipment in my car and offers no clue to it value to potential thieves. Nice DAC as well.
If you like features other than on/off and a tone control look elsewhere. Not the best tuner (odd since tuners were a Mac cornerstone for decades), cant FF a CD, it CAN play CDR's. After listening to HU for several weeks with no user friendliness and so-so sound I sat down a listened to the Mac and was flabbergasted that there was a HU that focused on sound ("Hey! This doesn’t suck!!"). Expensive, I am ashamed to almost have paid list price... impulse purchase.
I heard the Eclipse 8000 series decks this WE, very nice indeed (small buttons though).

I have a Sony C90 with a 4000x DSP via toslink.
Pros:
-Sound quality is unreal
-Georgoeus clean deck
-4000x adds to SQ of the C90 (if you can belive that!)
Cons:
-tuner is terrible
-the display is impossible to read during the day (but when you have the joystick you don;t even look at the display anymore)
-the 4000x is a pain to setup
I love this setup and I don't think it can top it with much more ...if it goes them I might switch to the Pioneer P9 combo of the Clarion 9255.

I want a C90. Trade for an Alpine 7949 and PRA-H400 DSP?
Premier DEX-P99
overall it has been a great h/u,dual 24bit d/a converters,dsp,eq.etc...
it has all the same features as a P1,with the exception of time alignment and rta mic.but my remote is way mare simpler and ergonomic
the only problem i've had is aquiring parts after attaching a pair of pooched-in-the-box MMATS amps.and blowing the crap outta the pre amp. s hit happens

I would recommend the Pioneer DEH-P6500
Pros- Organic Display
Price
Amount of features for price
Plays everything exp, MP3, if you want that get the DEH-P7500MA.
CONS- The pre-out voltage is only 2v, but my old deck had 2v preout and this deck seems to produce a cleaner sound.
Nice deck for the money
