What do you Guys/gals think of my system setup in my crx: I have a few questions as well to ask...

Deck: Alpine - cda 7893 3 preouts Amps:
Zapco AG 350 (Using for highs),
Zapco AG 750 using for 8" elemental sub
Sub: e8a4.4 in ported box
Highs: JBL 5.25 Coaxials (for now) Any

recommendations ? Do's ? Dont's ?

was thinking Getting DLS or Rainbow 6.5 3 ways for the front and leave my JBL for rear fill. Or would 5.25 components work better in a crx ?

everything looks nice, just make sure to use some nice RCA's and have the install as good as possible.

As for components, unless you are planning on kicks and having the mid-range and tweet in the doors then I would suggest a simple 2-way setup. I would look at CDT or DLS, Rainbow tends to be a little pricey compared to the rest.

Good luck with the system.

Scarlem, I was gonna actually ask you to build me the ported box for the e8a4.4 ...
whatta you think ?
what would you charge me ? You dont have to carpet it, I'll do that.

or should I have a shop do that for me?

looks like a good start to me...i would recommend buying components for the front and running no rear fill. When i first heard the idea of running no rear fill years ago, i thought it wouldnt sound as "full" like the music should surround you, but after actually doing it ill never go back.

i recommend Adire Koda components

Hey Rob, I dont know if I would be able to build a box right now. Busy trying to find a co-op placement for next semester and finishing off this semester's exams. I may be able to set something up for someone to build it. Materials would be less than $50 easily.

Ask a few shops and see what there gonna charge, there are a few people on this board who would be able to build you a box.

Ok, how about no rear fill speakers, but put in some nice 6.5 midbass drivers instaed ??

I wouldnt bother putting anything in the rear other than the sub, it will draw the sound stage back if not set properly and your music will sound better without it. Save the money you would spend on rear-fill and spend it on a quality 2-way set for the front.

Check out www.thezeb.com and look at the CDT audio ES-530 set, that would be a nice set and the price for the 2002's is nice:).

Thanks, bbbuuuutttttt...
Can't I use the fader on the deck to fade the sound to the front speakers, and leave a lil for teh rear ?

Those cdt's look sweet ! There's so much to choose from for component sets.....

scarlemthug 01-09-2004 10:28 PM

Yes, but then whats the point of putting speakers back there in the first place? If your gonna fade to the front then your gonna have minimal output from the rear-fill and then that will be drowned out by the sub.

CDT offers a set of speakers for pretty much every application and they are very nice speakers. If I had extra cash I would love to upgrade to the 3-way Euro's but I love my HD 3-way set alot already. Whats the factory speaker size for the front of the CRX?

Thunderous Contender 01-10-2004 01:52 AM

nice setup. I'd go for some CDT comps up front, 2 way. You really have no need to worry about rear fill in a CRX. Maybe a couple 15's instead of an 8??
