Cool 2 Father Yuli & Other Pro's

I like doing/building stuff. But my approach is not to attempt anything I am not 100% sure of. So, it appears to me that the whole subwoofer box building is a relatively complex endevour requiring some specific knowledge and tools ( I am not talking about screwdriver here). I have no knowledge in this regard and I am too poor to pay a professional to make a pro box for me. All these "ported", "tuned at XXX Hz" really confusing me. While I am not into any sort of competion I would like my sub (not decided which one yet) to perform the best it could.

I would like to take time to collect info, listen to different opinions and eventualy build the box myself. The good one. Where, in your opinion I have to start? Any decent and "plain language" web site(s) to start browsing?
What would you suggest?

I'm no pro, but these will help with getting a basic grasp on what you need to know. Check out this site to get started:

and this one out too:

Car Alarm, Car Stereo, Mobile Video, and Cruise Control Info for Installers

And here's a beauty for box building and formulas:

2 Yuli's?!?! That would just be scary.

Jalat is another guy you could probably talk to regarding enclosures.

The sites listed should get you on your way. Plenty of reading.

The info on DD's website is pretty decent as well -> DDAudio

Yes

Jalat is the most welcome to join. Would appreciate his input. (sexy pink magnet sub :-)

Why Father Yuli would be scary? Is he scary? His vehicle is ;-)

Please no offence, you all welcome and once again thanks for sharing ideas, its just I want also to hear from folks who've seen/build lots of boxes and who knows the real difference between designes/enclosures not on a blue print but in a real life. Usually they "don't" bother to reply on "novice" questions

I can give you some help, if you can tell me in an email what your vehicle is, and what the measurements of your area where you want the enclosure is. What kind of music you listen too mainly with what amplifier will power the subwoofer. I can help you with a design when I get back from holidays at the end of April.
