Advance SPL Topics - port volume

what do you guys think the relationship is between box volume and port volume? should there be a ratio?

and by port volume I mean port volume, not width or hight of a port.

should you try to pressurize the port? or should you focus on obtaining high port velocity?

discuss.

a ratio would be good
but by having the same volume wouldnt that be different tuning frequencies ?

A higher port velocity means higher amplitude....

this could be desirable depending on how the vehicle is loading in relation to the mic... it can also mean greater losses due to drag...

my $.02

spl is about finding the right ratio of box volume and port volume.....also box volume and port area. Port velocity is very important as well. Should we be trying to minimize the pressure inside the port to increase velocity??? That is the question. Should we try to increase box pressure instead of port pressure??? These are important areas that need to be looked at.

I know where your going with and trust me people will get confused

I think there is no relationship between box volume and port volume. All I know is more port area gains, but makes port very long and to compensate a bigger box volume is needed.

Btw, my port volume and box volume are almost equal
