Alpine CDA 9885 sub problem
Hey guys, hope someone can help me. I hooked and amp and sub up to my Alpine CDA 9885. Sub sounds good when I am listening to a CD. As soon as I switch to the tuner the sub shuts off. Anyone have a clue what could be causing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

do you still get sound through the speakers
|
Yeah, just the Sub stops working.

I have read all kinds of people having the opposite problem. Usually their subs don't work in CD mode because they hook to the power ant. wire instead of the remote turn on. I can't find anyone who is having the same problem I am.

sounds alot like a bad head unit , or wiring problem , it might be the tunner portion of your cd player and gone bad which would make sense why its not allowing you to get bass , or just could be due to a wiring problem , its very odd that the stereo plays through cds without issues , so im thinking that its the tunner portion of your cd player thats gone bad , or a wire was misused somewere
I would pop it out and check the wires , do you have another head unit you can try |
I just went out and looked. When I switch to tuner the amp itself shuts off. Should I try splicing the power antenna wire with the remote turn on? Everything else works fine, just the amp shuts off in tuner mode.

did you ever get bass from your sub from the radio
|
you shouldnt have to splice the wires at all , the factory wiring harness should have a antenna turn on for you match up with , you dont want to be cutting into the other wires I would check all your wires and see how they match up

No. I just put the amp and sub in this afternoon. Tested it with a CD and then had to run somewhere. Switched to tuner and the amp shut off.

Comes back on as soon as I turn it back to CD.
