I am going to be doing a front firing setup from my trunk. I don't want to fibreglass, and I want to stay in street class so I was wondering how else you can seal the subs around the trunk other than expanding foam. I don't care if it looks like crap, just as long as it works. I will be using deadening material to seal the speaker holes and rest of the trunk.

How hard is it to fibreglass? I am not competing hardcore, but I want to win the local db drag when it comes to visions. How much would it cost to just fibreglass the area around my subs and the opening?

probably the eaiest waywith least mess is to use mdf cut an inch or two bigger than the trunk opening, silicone and screw this board to the inside of the trunk opening, now sound deaden this board(not forgetting to cut holes for sub and port first, now cut front of box to suit the baffle, with sub holes etc.

now build the rear of the box to suit the front, voila one sealed off trunk with a minimum of mess, to remove, just cut round the sound deadening remove the board.

try to find silicone that sticks but not panel sealent as it stick a little to well (sikaflex is what is called in uk, sticks a tad to well, and ya wouldn't seperate it ever!!!) normal framing sealent is fine, clear stuff that smells vinegery!

Fiberglassing is easy...especially if you don't care about looks. It shouldn't cost you more then say $30....just get all your supplies through a boat store though as they sell fiberglass usually half the cost of most stores.

??? what would you say is the cost of 1 gallon of fibreglass resin at a boat store? as he would most likely need atleast 2 gallons to finish the trunk using the method you are saying...to do SPL using fibreglass it must be thick and possibly reinforced with steel rods to give it non-flexible strength
