http://www.eclipse-web.com/ look under products then cd tuners and receivers, cd8053
i need some input if you've used it for spl. and whether it's worth it. for sure i know it's 16 volt max for sq, but does it put out 16v for deep bass (47 hz)? any thoughts regarding this head unit for spl? Thanks in advance to all

I'm the tech support for Eclipse in Canada. The deck Only uses the 16 volt preouts in conjunctions with the hideaway dsp and processor. They claim that the 8 volt rating is full bandwidth. Normally preouts are rated at peak values at a certain frequecy, which you probably already know. To ulitize the 8053, you need to use the 37601 adaptor. But here's the catch its not available yet on the Jestar price list. Also it does not offer a way to split up the signal for multiple amp situations. Unless the amp you are using have a pass through circuit, which allows that much voltage on the pass through, then the 8 volt benefit will work. Most pass through circuits on amps just split the voltage because the input is in paraell with the pass through. Defeating the purpose of the 8 volt preout. Any other questions, feel free to call me....

thanks westec. see i have a friend that will have this deck and he explained to me that i need the balanced line adapter for my amp(which i think is what you just told me that isn't available) so i thought i'd research it. either way i'm looking at this deck in depth, to see if it's what i need, or not. i am running only one amp but will add on more amps in the future. but for now it's one amp only. it can accept up to 16 volts of preout signal, by what i know. but i'd have to check for sure. thanks again for your input, i may have to call you soon if i come up with a worthy set of questions. if not the other decks that i have been looking at are the panasonic ghost, or the alpine cda9815. i also am looking into a kenwood(can't recall the model number) but i can pick and choose anyone of these.Unless you might have a suggestion for me.
I currently use a 2 year old panasonic, lower model cd player. so i need to upgrade my systems source unit to maximize my spl.
Any help that you can send my way is greatly aqppreciated

Nothing against Panasonic, but when I worked retail 2 years ago, I sold Panasonic, JVC, Alpine and Pioneer. Panasonic had thw weakest preout siganl of them all. I would change a Panasonic deck for another brand and I would get double the bass. This did NOT include the few models from Panasonic that had the out board preout "box". You can call Rick at Krazy Eddies in Kamloops for a second opinion. But he'll tell you the same thing. Cheers....

yeah, i know, everyones told me the same. the only reason i'm searching those models is because i can get a good deals on them. apparently the national sales rep at panasonic used to work were i do now ,so i can get a hold of him and get a great deal. but that doesn't mean i will. there is one more deck i'm looking at . it's an mb quart head unit(nautic) with external remote. brand new this year(soon to come out) and it has 3 - 5 volt preouts. does some nifty things, so i'll have to wait and see. i have till the mid of july before we get one, so well see.i got two weeks to keep researching, i'm kinda towards the alpine(as per Moe), he figures that this is the deck that i should get. high clean power, and of course he uses an alpine himself. can't argue with the highest idbl record holder.
Thank again Westec
