Back from the dead!

I'm not a noobie, but I feel like one since i've been building for speed instead of sound for the last 5-6 years. lots of new names in the ring now. I use to own the block with a memphis bell and 2 type R's but it seems alot has changed and I need help.

I will be doing a very simple system. components int the front doors and components in the rear door, all will have custom in door enclosures if needed. all sound deadening will be done.

this is a small hatch (1985 plymouth horizon) so its one giant box. I want to do a 1 sub class. with a 10-12" sub with lots of spl.

so help me out where and what am i looking at sub/amp wise....need direction

DC sounds, Digital Designs, TFone (ask Yuli), Ascendant audio, to name a few...

Fi BTL 12" $364 (+$80 in options = $444)

3" coil
90.5 dB (D1) / 90.3 dB (D2) sensitivity @ 1w/1m
Bl 18.3 (D1) / 27.2 (D2)
Fs 39.3 (D1) / 37.9 (D2)
2000W RMS - people put 4K on them without issues, and many don't believe it.
Recommended 1.75-3 cubic feet - ported only
12-16 square inches of port area per cubic foot

YouTube - 12" Fi BTL to a Diablo Audio Technologies 2500.1 Jeezy Thug Motivation 101

Word on the street is that high SPL is the result of time + beer + aero-ports. Sub up, port back.

Do you plan on competing? How much spl are you looking for?

Lymen 09-18-2010 09:35 AM

I would like to compete but never have.

Lessy 09-18-2010 02:14 PM

I would recommend a 12" sub, a strong battery(pc1750 or pc2150), lots of 0 gauge wire, some buss bars to connect them all, a 5 kw and up amp, asking for home depot gift cards for your bday and other hoildays, getting a mic, and countless hours of testing.

awesome I was thinkin gettin an omni or horizon for competing I am interested in how they do for spl
