battery limitations?

I set my sights on getting a odessey 2150 battery for out current setup.
But by the beginning of spring I'm hoping on having my own Street B build started.

What are the limits of this battery for SPL burps? Essentially I would like to know how big an amplifier I can use for a non running car burp.

Could someone could give me a rough equation using amp ratings and battery stats?

On the amp wish list is a Cadence ZRS7 -- about 7-8 k at 1 ohm. Can a single 2150 burp this amp properly? 2 amps?:cheeky4:

Is there a "normal" wattage for Street B competitors? :smokin:

If Jesse can burp 2 Atomic 7K's on the 2150, DJ SD16K, Team AB running 1100.1's, you'll have no problems. ;)

Wow I had no idea, what a battery!!!:smilie_da
Thanks bro, I'm sold
Guess I'll need to pony up for a huge alternator too!!

Have you priced one yet? They are $525 in Windsor. Jesse is selling one that is about a year old for $250. :dunno:

What's the alternator for if your car will not be running?

Father Yuli 09-11-2010 10:01 AM

you are a bit clueless, no offense. that cadance amp wont make close to 7k at 1 ohm on a single battery.

what you get out of the battery really depends on how well you know what you are doing.

The alternator would be for the street, even with the subs wired at a higher impedence, I will probably still need to upgrade for 3 k daily.

No offense taken Yuli. I totally agree:ohwell: Thats why I'm asking.

I actually thought I'd burp at .5 ohm and run 2 ohm on the street.
I was just listing the specs as I know them, but any info you can swing my way on "How to setup, burp your subs and win!!" :cheeky4: would be greatly appreciated.
Throw me a bone man :smokin:

I ran this class last year and form the info I got I was the one with most power, more than 13kW out of a HX400 battery dropping to 8.7V at the battery. 2x 16kD were used.

fresh1 09-11-2010 11:41 PM

the battery seems to make good power, but Yuli is probably right, I doubt that amp would make that kind of power, and I know very little. I do know that I have rarely seen an amp put out rated power off one battery with rise and all taken into account. except Soundigital of course :smilie_da
not to take anything away from any other manfacturer as I'm sure their amps are capable of doing what they claim, but not Cadence. Boss maybe

SOULMUSIC 09-12-2010 07:15 AM

Fresh - For real? I noticed that Cadence had virtually nothing else I would run in a vehicle(subs, comps etc) :eyes:
But that ZRS7 amp is a beast. dual 0-awg power /negatives inputs , 18 volt capable , 30+ lbs , 100 s/n ratio. It is their flagship :sly:

What is it(inside the amp) that makes one amp pull power from a battery better than another?

Guess I'll do more searching and see what I can find about the performance of it :smilie_da. I'd love a Stetsom or Soundigital but Im pushing the planned budget with any 7+k amp already I'm sure.:eyes:

Mach - 32K!!! ant got 13k! Thanks for that info. I can see I won't be winning...lol:thumbsup:

You can win, what car are you using?

The stronger the amp, lower internal resistance it will offer to the battery, pulling more current from it. The better the battery the higher the voltage it will sustain under heavy load. The better the amplifier design the lower the voltage it will shut down (before the power supply control collapses and saturates all FETs at the same time blowing all up). The efficiency numbers you see won't matter much on this situation.

I'm planning a long build ground up Mach, no new car yet, leaning toward a Focus wagon , for the kids and "some" room.:eyes:

Thanks for that simple explanation to my question, even I can mostly understand it
