pardon my lack of real hardcore experience on spl, but didnt some guy in a f350 do very well with some pioneer woofers, i thought i read an article im pasmag? about this guy doing very well comppeting

Father Yuli 08-16-2004 07:44 AM

ppl do well with all sorts of subs. its just that more ppl with certain subs do well than ppl with other subs.

and in case of the pioneer guy it was mostly his install. but yes, those pioneer spl 5000 subs can take some abuse.

cerwin vega is coming out with a new stroker

defro13 08-16-2004 09:15 AM

what made his install so good

Father Yuli 08-16-2004 09:25 AM

i dont know never seen it in person. In extreme classes in db drag, it's 98% install. everyone uses the best gear already anyways. Everyone said it was his install. i saw some pics and he had his subs firing into a loading wall and not striaght into the windshield.

Dereck Waller 08-16-2004 03:11 PM

I thought loading walls were illegal after Team BS beat everyone?

Father Yuli 08-16-2004 03:17 PM

i think they were legal but had to be see-thru. so pretty much like 5 inch plexi

Dereck Waller 08-16-2004 03:21 PM

I see, only billionaires need apply

Speakerman 08-16-2004 07:00 PM

MTA 08-17-2004 10:32 AM

Speakerman 08-20-2004 03:42 PM

Well i have been looking at the DD but i don't want the 9900 series. too much money and takes too much power. I only want to run 1 JBL Crown 2200.1 4400 watts max to 4 12.

What do you guys think about the JBL Crown amps? I know the 6000 gti is supposed to be pretty hard kore but what about the 2200.1??

I was thinking and i may just get another Image Dynamics IDMAX12 and run 4 of them in a big ported enclosure of some kind with just the one 2200.1 amp on them. I think that would be enough power. They really don't take that much power to be loud. There very efficient for a 12. Any thoughts?

The edge audio F350 VAN (since there is no back wall for the cab) is an impressive creation. They worked on that thing for several years to get it where it is. When they won their class and the deathmatch, the president of Pioneer (yes, the lad from Japan) was on hand with his engineers to witness it. It was very impressive.

What was even cooler, was that the truck ran for an extra minute while Scott Owens (the owner) was shaking hands. When he finally did shut it down, Kyle Witherspoon from Rockford jumped in a grabbed the magnets. He reported that they were still cold.

There are some small pics of the trunk in the demo cars section of the Pioneer USA website, I have the originals here somewhere if anyone needs a closer look.

There is no best spl sub.. it's just what works better for your application.. if you do a search on termpro you can see what subs and amps were used at last years finals.. and that will give you a good starting point..

Team Shadow 09-04-2004 08:07 AM

its like using a hammer. different hammers for different folks.

crazy4bass 09-07-2004 07:51 AM

Hey speakeman
what class are you planning to run in
I have a friend who is in streetB hitting 144-145
with 2 spl 5000 and a d2. With these big subs you have to give them an insane amount of power.
Kicker L7's 10' or 12's are extremely loud but are not as efficient as the ATOMIC A P X'S or the
DD 9900 if cost is your thing Which it is for many
people I would go with the DD 9500's or 3500's
2004 stock 2 Certified 148.8 #2 CANADA

Father Yuli 09-07-2004 08:55 AM

L7's are actually pretty efficient, why do u think they are loud???

L7's just fall apart way too quick if u feed them lots of power.

JordyO 09-07-2004 09:05 AM

Exactly...

From what I hear the APX's aren't very efficient at all, and need a tonne of power to get loud.
