Buyin a new car specifically for car audio.

Alright, I am selling my blazer and buying a smaller car. Really the only thing I care about is the trunk space and fold down seats. I have been searching for cars with 0-35,000 miles around the price range of $5,000-$7,000. I narrowed it down to two types of cars. The chevy aveo and cavalier. I don't think I will be able to tuck three 10" subs directly behind the back seat between the wheel wells. (i was planning on folding the back seat down during a comp and have the three subs right there if you know what i mean?) So I think I will have the subs at the front of the trunk facing up with the seats down. Is this bad for spl? Should the subs be as close to the front window as possible? (I also thought that if the subs were squished between the wheel wells then it would seal of the back of the trunk which I think would be a good thing :dunno:) Thanks for any tips.

also do you guys think that hatchbacks make more rattling noise then a regular trunk???

I dont know about the rattling, but, hatches kick trunks in SPL every day.

Honestly, i'd look for something with a hatch, maybe an older civic or something.

awesome thanks for the tip. aveo's come in hatch or trunk, and they are a cheap car that gets great gas mileage. I think that solves my problems, lol. Thanks

Hatch vs. trunk

It is true better chance to reach high numbers in a hatch but thier are hatch backs that suck so do your shoping well

cars

I have a Ford Focus ZX3 and you can stuff 4 - 12" in the hatch of it.....I upgraaded to a single 15" and the box is HUGE and still put my 2 amps a huge cap back there. It is one of the best cars I've had for stereo comps

so funny

that focus can probably be louder with a single 10 b/c of how much playing room u will have to make a much better, louder and more efficient box.
the fact that the cap is hurting your spl (oh yes it does) is funny.

how come your box is so huge? have u tried smaller? i run a pair of DD 9500's in a box thats less than 2 cubes total. trust me go smaller, ALOT smaller.

Get a CRX! That is the answer to all your questions, it is tough to find one that has low mileage, but if you are willing to spend what you said, then import one from Japan. You can make it loud, and also make it look good!

you could pick up a cheap escort hatchback, for like 500-1,500

Shipping/import fee's alone would be almost what he's looking to spend on the car, even before he's paid for the vehicle itself...
