Just getting some ideas for the future...
What some good inexpensive strappable amps? One idea that has been tossed at me is the Crossfire BMF1000D...Your thoughts? Cant afford to buy stuff right now, but I figure its good to do some homework before buying... Thanks for any info... BTW...Please don't hijack this thread,I'm looking for some real info here...not for smartass remarks...thanks |
American Bass CX 1200D's are pretty solid amps and if you can find them on termpro are usually really cheap.
|
You'll have to define "cheap" ... I've seen some Ultra Linear amps at XS Cargo that were strapable, but I'd never use them.
Then again, to some people a pair of American Bass 150.1's are also cheap. |
What is strapable? I am using a ultra linear amp from xs.
|
Strapable means you can hook 2 amps together and make them function as 1.

2 bmf1000d's should work nicely.
From what I remember a single 1000D was 1.6 db down from a D3 @ 1/2 ohm. Strap 2 @ 1ohm or .7 and it should be close. They can be had between 250$-350$ each. Also Bigunner just got some new Ma-Audio 1200 watt amps and we'll be doing some testing with thoses. I can't remember what he paid. Come check out the show in Cold Lake and you can talk to Mo there if you want to find out more about them. X |
I'm looking at more than 2 amps(No longer in Street)...But how many will be seen as time goes on...what money will do...
Cheap=$100-$250 ea. new or used Thanks for all the input...keep it coming..I'm keeping track of this all.. |
You can bridge any two mono blocks relativly easily... some may be more work then others and you may need an external circuit to reverse phase...
|
Aaron I can get you some prices on the American Bass amps when I get everything sorted out. And also look into what ever other good options I have.
|
just keep in mind if you're gonna go with the cheaper amps and you want to buy more then 2 or 3, that if they do fry on ya then you could run into problems...if the company charges you too much to fix them it might not be worth the $$$ and if you want to just buy another one, what happens if you can't find it? but good idea to do your research.
