Well, after watching the fun down at 20hz Audio today, I think I will be entering my car into the 2004 season.

Before I do, I was wondering if there is any pointers or tips that people could give me for starting out. I've already gone through the rulebook on the termpro.com website and it seems pretty straight forward (I don't know about idbl).

I already know there are a few things that I need to do, most likely build a better sub box (ported), and have the entire system tuned, and figure out what it runs best at. Right now, at 60 hz and under there is a lot of airflow, but its not "loud". Its LOUD, like, hear down the street loud/shake the car to pieces at about 140hz.

Secondly, I plan on changing a lot on my car, painting the interior, do some sound deadening, etc. And one big thing is the fiber-glassing the entire trunk and having the subs and amp molded into the thing. For those of you who were at the 20Hz Show, the Expedition that had the entire back fiberglassed with 10 subs and the screens.

IS THIS LEGAL in Termpro and Idbl? Or do they honestly consider that to be too big of a modification?

Hopefully the answers will be good enough to allow me to compete next season.

I have NOOOO Clue. Hopefully something small. I saw guys today that had like 4 + 12s or 15s in their car. Hopefully I want to stay with Cadence. Either 12s or upgrade to the 15 SPL Wildbeast Subs.

I think its the "Street" class.

Nah. The subs aren't going above the window line. The entire trunk will still be hidden by the little cover that they give you in the hatch-backs.

I just want to do up my car real nice... I am gunning for DarkNights and ImportFest for next year, but I want to still be able to compete in SPL.

For my current setup, I want it to be, pop the hatch, there is NO Trunk, just 2 Subs, an Amp inbetween them and a Cap along the top. Lighting and everything will be built in too. It will be complete in fiber-glass... Which I was thinking of having you guys down at Perfect-Tones take a look at it. There is a Red Civic that hangs around where I do, that has Perfect-Tones all over it.

Edit: Tinted, you know the 1996 Civic on the Perfect-Tones site... Basically, I want a car that has been modified like that, to still be able to compete in SPL.

Nah, I didn't compete. I thought about it, so I was there before noon but I didn't.

I drove a Black Hyundai Accent "Sport".

I was with the guy that drove the 2003 Eclipse... fat, etc

I basically wanted to create a system in where I can have it for show and sound Q, or with a few **** turns on an EQ, or Amps, switch to SPL. Nothing massive, I don't need to blow up my subs and amps like the Perfect Tones team did today!

As for that white civic... did they build / install the box while inside the car... I don't see how that could be slid though the hatch!

i mean, a show car can be done so it can reach into the 140+ db region. its just hard to have it go very loud spl wise b/c u always change and experiment with things.

i've seen ppl do descent spl number with show cars, all depends on the install and the equpment. i dont know if u saw my gf's car today, mazda 626 with pink stuff all over it inside, the install is by no means a show but it did do 141.5 db's and first place in that class with 1 12.

Yea, I am happy that you said it was your GFs car, because you were the one that drove it in and out of the lane.

What was that 1 Sub? That is pretty decent. I am not looking for something that is going to be insane SPL. I would only want to stay in like Street A or Street B... not move into anything where guys like you and the rest of the guys on CCA can eat me for breakfast.

The car will be show, and the inside changed a bit, that is why I was wondering if it was going to be a problem.. My trunk and enclosures are going to be anything BUT. Hell, I might just leave the trunk with speaker boxes, and just build amp mounts.

That would probably be the easiest thing to do.
