Do you think that modified amps should be allowed in the street classes? Because they are not readily available to the public?
|
In DB Drag, Yes. It also depends on the kind of mod/how powerful of amps we are talking about and who/where the mod can be done.
In a real world type street class that no SPL organization has ever created, No. X |
Modified amps do not belong in Street class. I don't think that strapped amps can be considered as one amp either. I am unsure if thats the case already or not though.
Something else I am unclear on is if a competitor has a modified or upgraded alternator and that is the only thing that would bump that competitor out of Street into SS then it should be not matter since the vehicle can not be running in Street Class anyways. Am I correct or is this already a rule. Some of the rules are not completely clear to me. I was planning on upgrading my alternator but still remain in Street A. I just wanted it upgraded for the daily driving benefits. |
In the Street classes, the person must have the engine shut off.Only in the upper classes, like SS can you have the engine running....
So I dont see how they can bump you up to SS as long as the engine is off....and as long as the engine is off,the alternator is basiclly useless during a run in Street classes... My thoughts.. |

^^^^ Go point, it will be hard to enforce. However, the whole "nature" and premise of the street class is people going to a shop and buying readily available gear -- so modified amps should not be allowed.
Straped or synched amps should count as more than I amp. If the car is off, the alternator should not count -- I always hated that rule ;) |
