Around my area everybody in the car audio game is in love with the eclipse titanium. Everyone seems to think that its the beast of all subwoofers. I have heard a single 15(lacked depth and punchyness). 2 15-couldn't tell if it was playing a bass drum or a bass guitar. never heard a 12 and never heard a 10. now i'm not saying they are not loud. but they had 2000 watts a peice on them. It seems to me that they take way too much power to even get a decent sound out. although they are very durable- never heard of anybody around here blowing one of anything. people slam the crap out of them all day long and they take the heat. Another thing is the price. For the average run of the mill type person they are very expensive for what you get. example. for the price of one ti15 i i could get 4 orion p-series 12 and be way louder on the same amout of amp.

just wonderin about it what do ya'll think of it and what would you compare it to in terms of spl, durability, sq and whatever else you can describe a sub as being

i suppose that by the silence on this topic that there is either no familiarity with the product or that it just sucks major *sshole

ok well the eclipse titanium is a great woofer. They are nothing above the ordinary great woofer, it is a little pricey indeed. But the one you heard was either A, not properly powered or B, in the wrong box because they usually sound pretty good.

I am one of the few people on this site that may have experience with these subs. As I am a dealer my opinions may be biased as well. It is a great sub for it's application. As was pointed out above, it is extremely pricy in Canada vs. the USA, thus the number of people that use them here is actually not many by comparison.

I would agree though, that if what you heard did not appeal to you, it was either enclosure or power related. Change the box, change the sound.

you also got to remember there speaker man it is also easier to make spl with surface area, opposed to trying to ream the hell outta one woofer to make the same numbers.

yeah i understand about the whole surface area thing. thats why i have 3 idmax's-they have a huge cone and peak rolled suround. check them out if you allready have not.

the 2 15's that i heard were profesionally done in an "sq" (so they call it) ported enclosure with an eclipse 2000 watt rms 4000 max amp. seems to me that they should have sounded pretty good. but again they did not apeal to me

Bump-a-dum tsssh!

I liked it. Sold mine just 2 weeks ago.

Yes, it's overpriced. Much like every name brand you pay extra for. I find Eclipse product depreciates sickeningly fast.

It only hits hard with good power. In your case 2kW is more than sufficient to p-p this sub.

Yes, it has to do with box size. In a 4.5 cu ft box it's peaky and produces mush and boom. A 3.2 cube was less deep but was more acceptable for overall music. Smaller still would likely make it better SQ-wise. This thing doesn't need a bathtub sized box to perform. So, ummm.... yeah.
