So I've got 2 12"s in a ported box.I've got it facing rearwards. At the last comp I was at there was a guy with a Sunfire with 2 12"s as well...facing forward. He had the box pushed right to the back of the trunk and he beat me by about 3 db if memory serves me right?

Any thoughts?

Any tips?

I've always faced mine to the rear and noticed it was louder. Experiment with different positions till you find one that makes you happy (as wrong as it sounds ).

mine faces out as well, seems to be louder, thats what I've been told over the year.

You need mic time with different box positions. It may have a fatter bass curve with the box facing back but a higher single peak with it forward that would obviously be better for comps.

What you hear and what the mic says can be completely different. Trial and error.

I find with my car it really depends on the size of the box..

Wave length, box size, ect...

Depends there is lots more than moving the box around.

Are you just looking SPL and does it matter if it sounds like ass?

Well with the subs firing into the trunk it kind of uses the trunk as an enclosure...a bandpass enclosure.....Just need to hit andy up for his mic if he is willing :D and test until you drop

Could you explain? </font>
well I guess a better way to explain it would loading... move the box away from an area where it can load into or fire it into the cabin and the score goes WAY down ;)

in our application anyway....every car is different
