It all depends on how it's been installed.

Is it a ported box? How is it firing? Is the trunk sealed off from the rest of the car?

There's about 1000 other things that could be asked, but lets start with these.

Oh, and it probably won't take much to win a show around Ottawa. ;)

I wonder what you would hit with the old IASCA spl track with music?

sierra305 05-31-2006 07:12 PM

my box is seal but i was wondering if a can use a ported box and how it will sound like

scroudt111 06-01-2006 08:28 AM

you will get higher DB with a ported box, also try flipping your back seat down and point your subs backwards.

sierra305 06-01-2006 07:57 PM

this system is install into a 2001 chrysler sebring

Ported boxes may get you more dB on a meter but only if the box is made properly (enclosure specs are optimal for your driver and the enclosure has no leaks on any joints, other than the port obviously). Then you've also got to worry about your tuning on the port, tune it too high and you're losing out on dB's you could easily get - tune it too low and you get the same thing.

If I were you I'd get the specs on your sub including recommended box specs. If you have the time/experience/resources you'll want to play around with some figures from the specs off the web and meter your SPL. Remember, it'll take some tries to get the best tuning.

In my dodge neon I was hitting 155.7 with 2 12" hcca's in a SEALED box, running around 1400RMS, so go for a ported design if you want obnoxiously loud
