How to fix it?

1 Attachment(s)
My box is in the trunk on the passenger side with my 2 10''. The problem is the trunk floor is too smooth and the box move and is'nt stable on the road. I think that I can't do an entire new floor without be illegal so how can fix it and stay Street A legal?

audiocustoms85 07-07-2010 12:19 PM

Get some heavy duty velcro and put it on the bottom of the box. You could mount the box on a board as long as it doesnt extend out of the cargo area or put the box above the window line and still be db drag legal for street class

Father Yuli 07-07-2010 12:27 PM

does that box looks familiar or WHAT?

jonesbrooklyn 07-07-2010 03:01 PM

lol. you took the words right outa my mouth dawg.

It's the picture of the 2008 box just to show the placement in the trunk. I changed the design in 2009 and 2010. In the same way you can't deny that 80% of the CRX boxes look familiar than to the others...

I'm now at home and I have 2009 and 2010 box pictures. It's more original for you Yuli? I don't stay with the same box more than 1 year.

But I don't know yet how to fix my problem. The box stay at his place with the aluminium parts but with the combine height, weight and smooth floor, it very unstable and the port toutch the amplifiers on the road

jonesbrooklyn 07-07-2010 05:00 PM

home depot or rona will have some like weather stripping in a roll which looks like tape. It will have adhesive on one side and sponge on the other. It worked great in my golf. Try it and see.

Thanks for your answer. I already have these weather stripping under my box but the real problem is the height versus the width of the box. To complicate the problem, the subs are heavy and on the top of the box. The box stay in place but it balance because the 1/8 floor is not enought stiff to support this weight and the port toutch the amplifiers on the road.

The only solution that I found is to do an entire new floor screw on the older like 3/8'' thick but I have to know before if its legal in Street and confirmed by a judge if its possible.

Soundigital 07-07-2010 08:26 PM

big bolts all the wall through the floor... you will gain

Soundigital 07-07-2010 08:30 PM

you got some nice scores, contrats

lpchouinard 07-07-2010 08:31 PM

don't do a floor but simply add a large piece of plywood(not MDF) screw to the bottom of the box, it will still be part of the box and not the car. no?

Soundigital 07-07-2010 08:41 PM

in that kind of box I think if you add wood you will loose, but you can just screw the box on the car...

I guess to go with the Audioque 3500D.1 this year. I bench it at 3700W at 1.1 ohm rise with 10.7 volts input. For 750$ brand new, it's a deal and it push 1000W better than my old amplifier. Unfortunately, not enought to be in the Canadian nice scores but thanks Murilo!

Soundigital 07-07-2010 11:09 PM

Well, if you think about it, considering you box+subs keep linear, 6kW would make you break 155

Father Yuli 07-07-2010 11:12 PM

wait, what?

does that mean with like 13v of input this amp will do like 6000 watts at 1 ohm?

or is this amp 95% efficient?

The AQ3500D.1 is rated to do 4300W at 14.4 volts. It will never pass 3700W-3800W with my PC1750 in Street A application with a perfect electrical setup. Murilo talk about put a big Street amp like SD12K or SD 16K but i'm not sure that my ratio box vs port will handle this power and I doesn't have enought 1/0 to supply it.

I tried this new port last week but the results are very similar.

Father Yuli 07-08-2010 09:42 AM

we want more pics!!!

Mazda_SPL 07-08-2010 11:42 AM

Don't be sarcastic Yuli... No more pics of 2010 for now... I just put the pics to show you that I'm able to build different boxes and don't just copy on the others. In other way, do you come to Kingston 3x show in August Yuli?

hopefully I'll be there.

I'm not being sarcastic, I really do wanna see more pics of your install. I know you guys know your stuff, wish we could see you at some Toronto shows.

I know you didnt copy anything, that's a very common box design.

I have an idea for you to try

make a box that is very shallow (not very tall) and put subs up side down (invert mounted) with the port outside and firing up.

something similar to this,

I tried this in 2008 at Ottawa 2x show without succes. Its very difficult to drop the frequency to 57 Hz with a 8'' port without be illegal in height.

I also tried this box at the 2x show in Montreal in 2008:

And I don't count the ton of slotted port box tried in 2009...

Father Yuli 07-08-2010 03:53 PM

how much trunk space do you have?

XquisitesoundZ 07-08-2010 04:27 PM

Is that a earthquake D2?? have not seen 1 of those for a long time I use to have 2 of them.

Mazda_SPL 07-08-2010 05:47 PM

Its an Earthquake PHD3 and Yuli I have 40'' x 26'' on floor, 40'' x 20'' on top and 20'' of height to stay legal.

Matheiw what note do you play? I will draw something for you with subs and port up to try to be legal and loud.

hello mazda spl also to all on this thread i am from the city of chicago in the united states and currently ranked forth in street C in the U.S. i have an 08 honda fit just like mazda spl i am running 3 kicker solo X 12" with a soundigitl16k or a stetsom 7k2d i can only hit a 151db and seeing mazda spl scores i decided to try all the box designs over the past 2 days that you have shown pics of and just cant get anywhere near that 153db please email me at destinynites@gmail.com or even call me at 773 592 9144. going from a 151 to a 153 would put me at 2nd in the U.S. i need to know what i am doing wrong...

dominic mrzena 07-09-2010 06:18 PM

the first photo i do a 151db the second photo 149.6db 3rd photo 145db what am i doing wrong

Mazda_SPL 07-09-2010 10:54 PM

If you put your last box one sub on front, one sub on top and port on driver side and the score don't pass 151 with a SD16K, I can't help you more because I have a box problem now. 2 12'' are more difficult to fit in the trunk with the box I have tried.

P.S.: I you talk french, I can call you! I need 15 min to write 3 lines in English on a forum!

dominic mrzena 07-09-2010 11:14 PM

i did that with my last box only got a 145db. did you get a 153db on a termlab mic at the windshield...

dominic mrzena 07-09-2010 11:19 PM

termlab suction cup meter...

dominic mrzena 07-09-2010 11:29 PM

my girl understands french but does not speak french. but dbdrag is a universal language. you are the only one in the world that i can find with a honda fit doing any numbers in dbdrag... i need help i am so close...

Mazda_SPL 07-10-2010 08:02 AM

The best score with the last box was 152.8 in the lanes and 153.1 db with little changes in test in the garage before problems begining. Scores are with Termlab sensor in dash dbdrag style Street A legal rules but now, the score down to 152.4 and I search...

I'm not a SPL god but send me a pm with your last box dimensions and I will try to put you on a best track if I can.

I tried this one last week and all the 4 boxes are in the same 0.5 db range.

dominic mrzena 07-25-2010 06:13 PM

i sold the solo X woofers gonna buy either DC AUDIO XL WOOFERS AUDIOQUE OR DD9500 WHAT DO YOU THINK I SHOULD GO WITH???

Mazda_SPL 07-25-2010 08:35 PM

They have a lot of great subs brands. Make your choice on customer service, parts availability and the price at the end. Why do not try TF One subs? But why you sold yours? I think that these are not your bigger problem and change will not be the solution. to do a better score.

dominic mrzena 07-25-2010 09:14 PM

is that what you use???

Mazda_SPL 07-25-2010 09:25 PM

No, they were not available yet when I bought mine in 2007.
