IASCA rules question

so here it goes...does the square inches of subwoofer rule work out better for you than the db drag rule of just the size of and number of woofers? I ask because of the following.

say for the stock division class 1. a guy shows up with 2 10''s with a total of 157'' sq and another guy with 1 12'' so 113'' sq. great, just like say street a in db drag.

BUT

if a guy shows up with two 10'' squared subs, that means he now has 200'' sq of subwoofer, but now has to compete against 2 12'' setups, or 3 10'' rounds, and the whole time the guy with the 15'' is left out of the loop, which varies greatly from db drag (if I'm not mistaken)

just wondering, is that really fair? I mean really?

In addition to this, there is the W7's with a larger than average cone area. Whats up with that? lol

Hey Paul, almost forgot, I was 146 uncertified with my 12''s lol

....f&$(er ....prove it..... lol I WANT NUMBAS!! :cheeky4:...jk.. good sh!t man. Congrats. Good to see your getting your electrical worked out. I'm going to burp my new recones this weekend, just for sh!ts and giggles. I want to see what they are up to, still not totally broken in but I've been working them. They sound GREAT! Starting to loosen up. Think I've played How Low by Luda at least 40 times. Got the 2 EQT's and 24XS in last weekend. They made a HUGE difference in my mid/highs.

sounds like you're ready for this season to start. I kinda wish I still was running the 12''s to smash you in 39.9 but I moved to an 18 and I have no idea how its gonna do yet. the box is pretty rickity so I gotta fix that before the 24th hopefully. luckily my gst cheque came so I have box money lol

hmmm, you think anyone is gonna try and answer the original post lol

:dunno: Maybe....

So that was your trunk in the vid, lol. Cool... how you liking the 18? I wanted to see some numbas after your little taunt. lol :cheeky4: So, I just had to go try one burp. lol I did it in my back yard, with my current settings (gain ALL the way down), no boost or anything (don't want to push my luck yet, lol) and I got:

Attachment 9203

Not too bad. Once I break them in more, I'll retune everything and get to pushing them a little more. They are craving more juice but I'm taking it easy till they're broken in. ;)

hmmmmmm, not quite yet.... :sly: I haven't even turned mine up yet. ;)

SO... back on topic. How about these square subs and W7's?? How does the rules apply to them?

Sorry to side track this thread, but Paul you can literally HEAR a difference while your subs are breaking in? Playing the same track 40 times.
I mean, 3 minutes in a song, how many Minutes (or hours) are you thinking you need here? Just curious, because I've yet to own anything NEW NEW when it comes to subs.

Somewhat new, almost new, but not factory fresh new. So that whole process is foreign to me.

It's something you can physically see in the flex of the sub or you can hear it (like you describe) or you just know it's got more to give?

fresh1 04-07-2010 10:11 PM

most people describe it as the sub playing louder and lower on the same volume as it did say 3 days before. I describe it as going from a 145.6 to a 145.8
