kicker 12" x2 vs 1 solo x 18" have the power to do both/need super lows :)

i am in the prosess of redoing my lows, and have lots of space in the back of my jeep cherokee(97)and have been missing my highschool days setup/with ultimate lows(all rockford/pg back then...with blowthrough/walkthrough s 15 & canopy.) not looking to blow everybodys doors off anymore....but THE SUPER CLEAR LOWS i use to have i really miss. i have 2 ultimate t3 1000d's ready for some serious damage(yes i know the whole dispute about these amps......trust me...if u get good ones, and fan cool them internally/externally...push/pull setup, they are truelly MASSIVE sub killers at 2ohm OR 4ohm) so i have the 8"(lots of 'em if needed)kickers) now need the pain(140hz-20 hz) 240 amp alt, with the option of adding a second one(i have it if nessesary) and did the big 3 too.so which is the way to go.....not nessesarally for sound comps that is???? tony b

honestly 4- 12" L7's will play crazy lows and be very loud I know a guy that has them hooked up to a zx2500.1 in a durango and they are truly awesome, then another guy has a solox 18 on a 2500.1 in a T-bird, and it is awesome but for your question if it is just between 2-12's and 1 18 I would pick the 18, but if you want to do 4-12"'s that would be the way to go

From what I can see for volume displacement, you're getting almost 3 times the output from the two 12's compared to the single 18.

Kicker 04S18X - 48.8 cu in
Kicker 06S12L74 - 56 cu in X2 = 112 cu in

So in theory even one L7 12 would be louder than the SoloX 18...? I guess that Kickers lack of excursion is limiting.

you are also comparing solo x to L7s right... would that not have anything to do with it?

What the hell are you talking about? Anyways the 1 18 would be better vs the 2 12s.
