Question

Hey guys, I just recently bought a L5 15 dual voice coil 2ohm... Im probably going to by a Hifonics Brutus. 18002channel that's rated at like 900@2ohms.... but I've got this thing in a 4.4 sealed box and i mean it's decent but it's not pounding like i'd want it to be... I was wondering if yall have any specks on a vented box for this sub... I would rather it be 30inches wide therefor it'll set right next to my seats ( GMC JIMMY 2door with a tire in the back cargo area ) at 30inches wide it can be like 25inches deep and like 15-17inches high.... If yall could help me out.... I want this thing to be in a vented box but i dont really have a clue on were to start at....

the kicker site requires (for they'r "SPL box") a 6.0 cuft box with a port of .45 cuft tuned at 30hz.
with the dimmentions you've given you'll have 5.879cuft box.

so you have a few options

1) try and work it with those dimentions

2) make the box 18.5 inches tall and you'll have a 6.449 cuft box (almost perfect -> 6.0+.45=6.450

3) go down in size to the next kicker recomended box of 4.5 cuft and .42cuft port tuned at 33hz

How much? I have a 6cuft Kicker Promo enclosure in my showroom with a 15" L5 loaded in it. It rumbles the showroom nicely. Have to dust the store when it shakes the T-Bar ceiling though...

you wont wear it out in a 6.0 cuft box. the amount of power u put to it determines that.

go to the kicker site and then find the L5 model under "products" then click on "manuals", they have the manuals for '02 models there as well. in there is all their recomended boxes and all the dimensions for how to make em.

hey all the prefab boxes there are 32 inches long and that wouldnt really work for me.. I dont see how i could get that box to work for my truck.... because if i set it were mines setting now it may be to close to my side wall ... Im not sure i'd have to measure it all out... wats a subsonic filter?! ....

u can take them and make them smaller to fit your truck. just because its not exactly to the specs doesnt mean its not goin to work. those boxes are desigened to work in your average car. a smaller box then what they have exact specs for may sound better in your jimmy. i dont think shortening it 2 inches would change it that much.

subsonic filter filters out frequecies below a certain point usually between 25-20Hz. since those frequecies are too low for most subs, if they are cut out then ur amp efficiancy goes up. the sub will also be able to handel more power as well.
