little help?

hey there ppl;
I have a friend in ont that contacted me asking what kind of subs he should use in his tracker.
He is building a box for his tracker and wants to run 3 X 10" subs but here's the catch.....he likes to take the hard top off and is worried that he is going to loose most of his bass.
Any ideas as to what subs he should use that will still sound good when the top is off?

Lightbulb

Space the box 2-3" off the floor and fire the woofers down. They'll still lose bass with the top off but this arrangement is the most effective at preserving as much bass as possible.

And because more is not necessarily better, lose one 10" and build a ported box, all depending on space for the box. 3 subs might present a odd load to the amp as well. Does he have his gear already?

If memeory serves me correctly those trackers dont have much room behind the seats at all, you would most likely need to do something under the seat or in that area, subs facing down will work but you get cancelation with the carpet so some bass will be lost, if you fire the subs forward and ports sideways under rear seat he should still get a decent amount of bass with top off.

yes he bought all the gear except the subs and box off of a guy in ont that used to compeat (lots of trophies in the living room) for 2 yrs with the system. so it sould be good...just need 2 subs.

you will get calcelation to a certain degree no matther what direction you face your subs, im my truck i found downfireing both sub and port have the best results.
