monsters!

so im sitting here all bored looking and different stuff and ive came across the audiobahn 34" and clarion 32" subs... anyone heard these? are they pretty crazy or just a joke?

JordyO 02-28-2008 01:56 PM

Pretty much a joke... fun to look at but don't perform very well.

(all from what I've heard.. never used one myself) ;)

AAAAAAA 02-28-2008 03:50 PM

If you haven't found it already, look for the MTX 5' sub.

blazin454 02-28-2008 04:15 PM

hmm cant seem to find it...

JohnVroom 02-28-2008 06:04 PM

I think there was a monster sub at autoworx in Buffalo... a nice demo piece...

Mr.American Bass 02-28-2008 07:28 PM

We had the Audiobaun sub at our shop in 2001 or 02 it was garbage you could cook noodles in it it looked like a wok. The thing was all show no go.

audiobhan bashing......

i donno...i bought a '98 neon rt that had 2 awes12p subs in it,they looked flashy,so i wasent expecting tooooo much(also because ALL the bashing peeps seem to do) anyway,i wanted to see how much they could take before cooking....and was utterly supprised.really supprised.they took the load of a ultimate t3 1000d.....and only after 5-10 min. of playing(gains to min.)could u smell the coils gettin' hot n' bothered!!!!thats 1 amp PER SUB!!

they also sounded decent in a sealed box....yes i was sober at the time...lol...:) just my 2 cents on audiobhan's (best) offerings immortal/eternal line....

DUMPED 02-28-2008 08:53 PM

here is also another photo of the sub in another vehicle.
I wont even try to get into the whole story about it.
Safe to say various companies and people had their nose mixed up in this and tried branding it their own and so forth.

wanna sell them?

MTA 02-29-2008 12:53 PM

yeah Don... the sub ur talking about is the same one in the pic above... its Tims baby from New Wave... he was the Canadian Audiobahn distributor before Automobility came along and got the line.... its the same exact sub that Nick is talking about...they used to bring it to shows and the models would sit in it for pictures... now its all dried up and the glue has released from the basket... the cone and surround still looks pretty good... the spiders have a bit of sag from the weight of the cone ... I keep askin if I can glue it together again and build a hugebox for it...but still a no go right now :(

zzzzzzzz 02-29-2008 02:37 PM

Mr.American Bass 02-29-2008 09:16 PM

If you want a pick of the JackhHammeer i will got to my boys shop dreamsport they have it . The thing came with a engine hoist and ways 269 or 289 pounds look Badass.

MTA 02-29-2008 09:28 PM

Nick is set in his WAYS...
a sub WEIGHS 289pounds

thought u might want to know :)

Haunz 02-29-2008 10:27 PM

I'd rather have an 18" XXX then a jag hammer.....

edit: IIRC the 6' sub posted earlier crumpled the truck it was in, and was banned from db drag before the vehicle could be repaired and entered.......

Mat-Romain 02-29-2008 10:56 PM

why do they need an engine hoist fr it?...its not that big

lol

but seriously

dB Don 02-29-2008 10:58 PM

Ah I remember sitting in Richard Clarks bread van with that 61". lol was nice at 10 hz

rorybreaker 03-01-2008 10:39 PM

yeah, I remember the clarion, really nice big heavy paperweight. Had a vas of like 120 cubic feet, and an ultra low qes. basically a 15 with a 3 foot wide cone.

dB Don 03-02-2008 09:27 AM

dB Don 04-19-2008 12:34 PM

Hm I get to review a 24"? I am up for it for sure. I will PM you the address. You do realize it will come back to you having been to the edge and back?

ShockingCanada 04-19-2008 01:06 PM

Norm-aca 04-24-2008 10:09 AM

Don did you get the email

dB Don 04-24-2008 11:00 AM

Ya I got the email, will get it to the right person now. I don't think I will be testing the 24" because its a bit much to invest right now with all my other projects.
