MTX MXA8001 vs 14v
I have a MTX MXA8001 and i cant find anywhere if itll take 14v, im just wondering if anyone else knows if it will or not, or if i wire it to 14 if itll damage my amp if it cannot take it...
Offtopic..i had my system db'd today and hit a 142.7, i was very happy:) and impressed, as i only have it running off that one amp. with 2 subs with 8gauge cheap ass wire. |
Yea, I'd think all amps run off 14v because thats what an alternator spits out.
|
Will it up the output of the amp? cause like i said it doesnt show the 14v power rating on this amp.
|
Heres the PDF for that amp
http://www.mtxaudio.com/caraudio/pro...XA_Class_D.pdf it looks to me that it'll take 11-15v... a lot of other amps I've seen will accept 11-16v... I guess take their word for it |
Go for it, and upgrade you wire to atleast 4ga while your at it, and your alt power, and battery ground
|
alright..done running at 14.1, and definatly louder..:D, now i just need to find someone with a meter :eyes:
|
Yea the 2 volt difference the alternator makes can be hundreds of more watts your subs get...

The birth certificate that came with the amp should say that it was tested at 14.4 (this amp is CEA2006 certified) |
