The Eclipse is now 5th generation of the ICEpower class D chassis. The circuit topology developed by Eclipse in conjunction with B&O is now being used by many companies under license. Alpine PDX and Pioneer Premiere to name two of them. They have easily been proven to be a incredible amplifier.
Eclipse has always rated at 14.4 volts (where you alternator provides it's charge level at). In actual use over the last 5 generations of this amp type from Eclipse, all have exceeded their rated power.
While the MB Quart is a good amplifier, it is definitely not in the same league as the Eclipse. That said means it should be cheaper than the Eclipse and it may even be on sale from the CDN distributor. I will check for you when I make it to the store tomorrow.

Full range class D, IMO, is only positives. There is less of the bling factor as they are usually more meant for concelement. To me that's a positive though.
And really, you won't hear a didference between amps if one does 10 or 20 watts more then the other.

if you're only using the amps for power, and not sound processing (using it's internal eq, xo, time alignment etc...), then they all sound the same...a watt is a watt. Just ask Richard clark, his challenge included class D and tube amps as well, and nobody has collected yet!
I actually ended up with the Eclipse XA4000.
125W x4 @ 4ohms or 175W x4 @ 2ohms
It has some sort of weird grounding loop problem though in my car that my old JBL GTO75.4 II never had.
I've finally found out that it's related to the gains. Unless they are at the absolute minimum, and you feed it a full 8 volts or whatever it requires, you get RPM related alternator whine. Kind of disappointing for an Eclipse amp in that respect, but power wise, it's a beast for a 4 channel.

Nice four channel amp here, 125w rms X 4 @4ohms, 250w rms X 4 @2ohms at 13.8volts. 2 year transferable warrenty and 500w rms X 2 @4ohms. Crescendo Audio :: Amplifers :: 1000C4 4 Channel Amplfier
